The Snyder Industries 4900 Gallon vertical storage tank is a black, ASTM XLPE crosslinked-polyethylene reservoir built for high-volume water and heavy-duty liquid storage. It holds 4,900 gallons on a 90 x 90 inch (7.5 ft square) footprint and stands 202 inches tall, so before you commit a site, confirm your pad and any overhead clearance will take a tank that reaches nearly 17 feet at the top. The wall is rated to a 1.9 specific gravity, which is one of the heaviest ratings in the polyethylene world and the main reason to choose this crosslinked tank over a standard HDPE vertical of the same size.

Will it work for your site?

Filled with water, this tank carries roughly 40,866 pounds of contents, and at its full 1.9 SG rating it is engineered to hold up to about 77,645 pounds. That max figure is the same 1.9 SG capacity in weight terms: it can carry liquids up to 1.9 times the weight of water, so the jump from 40,866 pounds full of water to 77,645 pounds at max rating is exactly why the crosslinked wall exists. Those are also the numbers that decide your foundation: a tank this size needs a properly sized, level concrete pad, and our concrete pad sizing guide walks through the ACI 360R-10 framework for above-ground polyethylene tanks. If you are still settling on capacity, the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide help you match usable volume to draw-down and refill rates.

Fittings and access

Per the technical drawing on this page, this tank is configured with a flange, an 18-inch PE threaded and vented fitting, a manway with 15-inch access, a 2 to 3 inch S.U.M.O. fitting, a 12-inch by 14-inch fitting, and a flat fitting location. Size your bulkhead fittings, gaskets, and flange hardware to the 18-inch PE threaded/vented port, the 2 to 3 inch S.U.M.O. fitting, and the 12 x 14 inch fitting shown on the drawing before you order plumbing. The 15-inch manway access matters for inspection and cleanout, so verify it suits your maintenance plan before install. Always cross-check fitting sizes and positions against the drawing, since outlet and vent placement drives your whole manifold layout.

The XLPE decision

The biggest mistake on a tank this large is treating XLPE and HDPE as interchangeable. Crosslinked polyethylene is chosen for its higher specific-gravity rating and impact strength, not because you always need it for plain water. Read Snyder XLPE vs HDPE: When Crosslinking Matters to confirm the crosslinked wall is the right call for your duty. If this reservoir is part of a rural fire-water or private fire-protection plan, our fire-water reservoir design guide covers NFPA 22 sizing discipline and freeze protection for cold-climate service.
