A 5000 gallon black double wall tank at the 1.5 rating
Snyder part number 5630000N49 is the lighter-rated version of the 5000 gallon double wall tank: a polyethylene inner tank and outer containment shell moulded as one unit, 102 inches in diameter, 216 inches tall and 3,600 lb empty. The wall is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity with a service limit of 120 F (48 C), which covers water, rinse water, dilute solutions and the many plant chemicals that are not much heavier than water. 5000 gallons of water weighs 41,700 lb; at the 1.5 rating the contents can weigh 62,550 lb. An 18 inch threaded vented manway sits on top. Snyder backs it with a 3 year warranty. The colour is black, which keeps light off the contents and slows algae in stored water.

Where it goes
Eighteen feet of tank on an eight and a half foot circle: this is the shape for a site short of floor and long on roof. Process and rinse water, boiler and cooling tower make-up, dilute treatment solutions, liquid fertilizer at an agricultural retail site, wash-down supply in food and beverage plants, duties where the product is near the weight of water but a release would still reach a drain. If the liquid is dense, or runs hot, the same shell is sold at a higher rating and we list those versions below. The empty weight is the lightest on this shell, which makes the lift easier, but the pad carries the liquid: design the slab for 62,550 lb, flat and cured, and check it with a level across both diagonals before delivery, because an out-of-level edge under a tall column becomes a lean. Measure the clear height from the finished slab to the lowest service in the way, with a platform and the fill connection allowed for above the manway. Openings, and what to confirm before you buy
- Manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway at the top of a 216 inch column. It is the fill point, the inspection point and the vent; plan the drop pipe, the level instrument and the rinse method together, and put a platform with fall protection in the installation drawing.
- Outlet. No outlet or fitting is listed on this product. Give us the line size, the valve and the pump arrangement when you order and we will confirm with Snyder what 5630000N49 carries and what can be added before it ships.
- Getting liquid out of a tall column. If the discharge is a suction line through the manway, keep it short and rigid where you can; a long flexible suction loses prime every time the level falls, and here it falls a long way.
- The liquid. Name it, with concentration and temperature. The 1.5 rating and the 120 F limit are the two figures to hold against your worst case, and the fitting materials are chosen against the chemistry.
- Level. The wall is black, so a level instrument and a low level cut-out chosen with the pump are the only level you have.
- The space between the walls. No leak detection is listed with the tank. Specify it separately and inspect on a written schedule; the inner wall works hardest at the vapour line, and the headspace wall thickness guide explains where to look.

The tank ships LTL at freight class 250 from Snyder's Lincoln, Nebraska plant, 102 by 102 by 216 inches at 3,600 lb. Measure the route for height: eighteen feet of shipment clears a yard and stops at a door head, an overhead service or a low gate frame. Lift from the base with equipment that has the reach, never by the manway, and keep it upright wherever the route allows. Set it plumb on the cured slab, fill with water, hold the 41,700 lb load while you read the manway seal and the base, then drain, dry and inspect the space between the walls before the first liquid goes in. Check the bill of lading against 5630000N49 at the tailgate and write the fill date on the shell.
