Water storage for a narrow site

Some sites have height to spare and no ground: a greenhouse range, a strip between a building and a property line, a fenced utility yard, a small rural lot that needs a real water reserve. The height: 234 inches, plus the fill pipe and vent, is taller than many nearby roofs, so check overhead lines and any local height limits. What to check before you buy

1. The size. Run your use and refill timing through the tank sizing calculator and the tank sizing guide. Leave headroom at the top; our freeboard sizing article explains how much.
2. The outlet. The manway is the only opening listed. Tell us the pipe size and what the tank feeds and we will confirm the bottom fitting before anything is drilled. A tall water column puts steady pressure on that fitting, so connect with a flexible coupling and support the valve.
3. Reaching the top. The 18 inch threaded vented manway is 234 inches up. Most owners fill through a pipe run up the side and keep the manway for inspection.
