Why a co-op or a water plant picks the low 1.5 tank

A co-op with a spring fertilizer run, a wastewater plant dosing hypochlorite by the tanker, a food plant with a brine room under a ten foot ceiling: the liquid is not acid, Snyder's heavy duty wall would be money spent on nothing, and the manway has to be opened without a platform. That is the buyer. Full of water it weighs 7,650 x 8.34 = 63,801 lb plus the tank, on a 142 inch circle, and the floor bears on all of it, so the pad is a slab in full contact per our concrete pad sizing guide, inside a berm where the liquid is regulated. The lowest tank at this volume needs the least restraint and still gets a strap before the first fill. White runs cooler in the sun than black and shows the liquid line on the wall; it passes some light, so hypochlorite, which degrades in light, prefers the black version of this shell or a shaded room. What goes in it

Fertilizer solution, brine, hypochlorite, polymer and process water are the normal loads. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting low in the wall. A loadout pump moves a tote's worth in minutes off a 3 inch outlet with ten feet of head behind it and never has to be primed; a centrifugal pump with a full port valve for fertilizer or brine, a diaphragm pump with a calibration column for a hypochlorite feed, and on either a low level float. Brine drops salt as it cools and fertilizer settles, so a strainer ahead of the pump earns its place. Support the valve and the first pipe run off the pad and trace or insulate them where winters freeze.
2. Manway. An 18 inch threaded vented manway on top, 122 inches up, reached from a step: a screen in it for a tote fill, a dip tube for a tanker fill, and a vent sized for the truck's pump. A recirculation line back to the manway keeps a seasonal tank mixed.
