Four ways to buy 8,500 gallons on a ten foot circle

Four of these six are the same shell, so within the shell you are only choosing a wall and a colour, and this is the black 1.5 one. Outside the shell the table gives the two escapes people actually need. The 5300600N40 stands on the same ten foot circle at 186 inches, fifteen feet six inches, which is the tank when the purlin is a few inches short of taking this one and 8,000 gallons covers the draw. The 5360100N40 is the opposite shape: 8,750 gallons on a 142 inch circle at 146 inches tall, for a site with a wide pad and a low roof, where a tower is not an option at any rating. Measure the building first, then the pad, then choose the wall; the rating is the easiest of the three to change before the order goes in and the roof is the hardest to change afterwards.

The manway breathes, the sheet names no pipe: what to specify

• Vent: the listed opening is an 18 inch threaded, vented manway at the top of a 194 inch shell, and the vent is the fitting that decides how fast a full tanker can be put into this tank without trouble. Pipe it outdoors on anything that fumes, keep the path clear of paint, nests and ice, size it to the delivery pump rather than to the nearest available port, and look at it every time the manway is open.
• Fill: a permanent fill connection landed at the manway rather than a hose lifted sixteen feet, and a dip tube run to the floor so the stream does not free-fall the height of the shell and foam the headspace.
• Headspace: on most chemistries the wall above the liquid line ages before the wall below it, and on a black shell it cannot be inspected from outside at all, so it gets a light at every opening and the date goes on the log.
• Outlet: the sheet lists the outlet as 24 and gives no pipe size anywhere. We print the field as it stands and do not read a bare number as a diameter. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off you need at order and we confirm what this molding accepts, in what material, before anything is drilled.
• Access: a ladder lug and two flange lines, as the sheet lists them; the manway at 194 inches is platform work rather than ladder work.

Sixteen feet two inches of liquid standing above the draw-off is good suction head and real static pressure at the same time, so the arrangement at the base is not a detail: the first valve sits on its own support off the pad, the connector between the shell and hard pipe is flexible, and a transfer pump goes below the outlet where gravity keeps it primed, with a low-level float to stop it before it draws air. Keep the manway threaded shut between deliveries so vapour stays in and rain stays out, put the name of the one liquid on the wall in letters a driver reads from the cab, and where the site freezes, trace or wrap the base piping and the first valve rather than the body, which takes ice from the top down without harm.

Municipal and industrial storage at 8,500 gallons

This is the general-purpose bulk tank of the group and it goes where bulk tanks go: a municipal water or wastewater plant holding a treatment chemical between deliveries, a food or manufacturing plant with a process solution that has to stay dark, a fertilizer dealer at the lighter end of the range, a mine or quarry holding site water, and any plant consolidating a row of smaller tanks onto one pad and one set of piping. Lincoln, class 300, and the hydrostatic hold before service

Class 300 and 2,400 pounds shipping weight from Lincoln, Nebraska is what the sheet gives, a central origin with reasonable lanes in most directions. At 120 inches across and 194 inches long on the deck this is a permitted load, so price the lane to your ZIP in the freight cost estimator before the requisition is cut and read the listed price as before freight. A crane stands 2,400 pounds up with straps under the body, never a sling through the manway, onto a cured pad rather than gravel, and the bands go to structure before the crane packs up. Then the part that gets rushed and should not: fill it with water to the manway, hold it there long enough to walk the base and the pad edge twice looking for movement at the slab edge or a weep at any fitting, then drain it and let it dry before the working liquid comes in.
