9,800 gallons in white at 1.9 specific gravity, nearly eighteen feet on a ten foot base

Nearly eighteen feet tall and white, the Snyder 7450000C26 is the largest tank in this batch and the one with the heaviest wall: natural polyethylene, 120 inches across and 215 inches tall, rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 155,291 pounds of contents against 81,732 for water, at 2,800 pounds. It holds two tankers of concentrated acid, ferric or a heavy brine on one ten foot circle, with the level showing through the wall and the 18 inch threaded, vented manway at the top of a platform. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead outlet, a 3 year warranty, and freight at class 300 from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Five part numbers on the ten foot base: what sets this one apart

Snyder molds this shell in four grades and lists a fifth part number in it at 9,500 gallons, all at 2,800 pounds. The C26 and C26-BLACK are the heavy-wall pair; the C37 and C37-BLACK the general pair; the N40 the cross-linked chemical grade, each rated as its own sheet says. This tank is the white heavy wall, and it is bought when the liquid is dense and the tank stands inside a tall chemical building or under a canopy, where an operator wants to read eighteen feet of level by eye and the sun never touches the wall. For the same liquid on an open pad the C26-BLACK stops the ultraviolet that ages white polyethylene; for water or a light chemical the C37 does the job with a lighter wall. Full at the rating it puts 155,291 pounds, seventy-seven tons, on a 120 inch circle, the heaviest load per square foot Snyder makes, so the slab is engineered per the concrete pad sizing guide, not poured by rule of thumb, inside a berm sized to the tank, and eighteen feet of empty polyethylene is cabled to structure before the first fill. The tank sizing calculator confirms the volume against feed rate and the tanker schedule, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve and the freeboard a dense chemical needs as it warms.

The N40 is listed at 9,500 gallons in this shell at the same weight; the sheet gives it and we print it. The 32026 is the green 10,000 gallon water tank on a 142 inch base at 167 inches, four feet shorter and a foot wider, for the site with yard and no bay, and for water only.

Two tankers of air have to leave through the vent

  • Vent: the 18 inch manway is vented, and on a tank that takes two tankers the vent is the fitting that is sized first and checked most. Every gallon the delivery pump puts in pushes a gallon of air out through it, and every gallon a transfer pump draws pulls a gallon back in; a vent too small for either lets eighteen feet of wall bulge or suck in at the shoulder. The atmospheric vent capacity guide works the arithmetic for a vertical this size. Screen it, and pipe it outdoors on a chemical that fumes.
  • Headspace: fill to the shoulder. A dense chemical grows as the building warms, and eighteen feet of column moves the level a long way; a double-wall version gives up more of the usable volume, which the Captor double wall freeboard guide works through at this size.
  • Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the base, matched to the liquid at order; a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
  • Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 215 inches up; a platform with a rail for anyone who opens it, and a dip tube to the floor for the fill.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Eighteen feet of liquid above a 3 inch outlet is the strongest flooded suction in the family, and the outlet drains a full tank in a working shift; put the pump below the outlet so gravity keeps it primed, and a low-level float shuts it down before it draws air. The white wall is the gauge by day and a sender confirms it by night, because nobody climbs eighteen feet to look. Where winters freeze, the valve and the first pipe run get trace heat or insulation; the body ices from the top down without harm.

Tall chemical buildings that take two tankers at once

Bulk ferric or caustic at a large water plant with a tall chemical building, acid at an industrial plant, brine at a food plant, and process chemical at a plant that buys by the tanker and stores under a roof. This is a chemical wall; a fire reserve wants a water-rated tank, which the fire-water reservoir design guide covers, though water is well inside this rating. The industrial water reuse tank topology article shows where a chemical tank this size sits between the storage stages of a reuse train.

A permitted load out of Lincoln

The 7450000C26 ships from Lincoln, Nebraska as freight at class 300 as the sheet lists it; at 120 inches across and 215 long on the deck it is a permitted load, and the freight cost estimator prices the lane to your ZIP, with the listed price before freight. A crane stands 2,800 pounds up with straps under the body, never through the manway, and the cables go on before the crane leaves. Fill it with water to the shoulder once and hold it a day, watching the pad edge and the outlet fitting, then drain and dry before the chemical goes in, and the log takes the date and strength of every load after that. On a white tank this tall, mark the shoulder line on the outside in paint marker so the driver has a target from the hose; nobody wants to learn where the shoulder is from a wet pad. Tape a copy of the spec sheet inside the control panel door; the next person to touch the tank will not have the box it came in.
