The Snyder 8700-gallon double-wall chemical tank (SKU SII-1006400N52) is a vertical HDLPE tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity, built by Snyder Industries for chemical feed stations that need integrated secondary containment. The white opaque tank stands 197 inches tall on a 142-inch diameter footprint, weighs 6,000 pounds empty, and handles contents up to 120°F (48°C). Its double-wall construction places the primary tank inside an outer containment shell, so a primary-wall failure is caught without a separate berm. This is a high-density linear polyethylene (HDLPE) tank carrying certifications 2285 and 2282.

Will it work for your application?

Confirm the load before you commit. Filled with plain water this tank carries about 72,558 pounds; at its full 1.9 SG rating the contents can reach roughly 137,860 pounds, so your pad, anchoring, and any elevated structure have to be engineered for the heavier of the two. The 1.9 SG rating is what lets you run dense chemistries most single-wall polyethylene tanks can't. Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE tank rated to 1.9 SG per the Snyder Industries OEM chemical resistance chart. Compatibility is concentration- and temperature-specific, so confirm your exact chemical, concentration, temperature, and fitting and gasket materials before ordering. Those OEM ratings assume service at or below this tank's 120°F (48°C) ceiling - a hot or exothermic feed such as diluted sulfuric acid must be cooled below that limit before filling. At 1.9 SG this tank satisfies or exceeds the density rating of every chemical in the chart; the densest feeds - ethylene glycol (100%), ferric chloride (50%), and sulfuric acid (98%) - sit right at 1.9 SG with no headroom to derate, so verify your exact fluid's specific gravity against 1.9. The chart covers dense oxidizers and acids including sulfuric acid (98%, CPVC fittings, Viton gaskets), hydrochloric acid (37%, PVC, Viton), hydrofluoric acid (48%) and hydrofluosilicic acid (26%, PP/PVC, Viton), phosphoric acid (85%, PVC, Viton), hydrogen peroxide (50%, PVC, Viton), sodium hypochlorite (<16.5%, PVC, Viton), ferric sulfate (60%, PVC, EPDM), and ethylene glycol (100%, PVC, EPDM). Peracetic acid (30%) is the outlier - it wants Aflas gaskets and 316SS fittings, not Viton, so do not default it to the oxidizer group above. Lighter feeds like DEF (32.5%, 316SS, EPDM) and urea solution (50%, PP/PVC, EPDM) run in this tank as well, but DEF requires 316 stainless fittings with EPDM gaskets - do not put PVC on DEF service. Others in the chart include acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, ferrous sulfate, potassium carbonate, potassium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium thiosulfate, polyaluminum chloride, propylene glycol, zinc orthophosphate, and ozonated water. Match gasket material to the chemical using each chemical's page in our Chemical Compatibility Database - for example sulfuric acid, sodium hypochlorite, hydrochloric acid, and peracetic acid.

The mistake to avoid

Don't spec fittings and gaskets off the tank material alone. The polyethylene wall may be fine for your chemical while a PVC nipple or an EPDM gasket is not - the strong acids and oxidizers above want Viton, peracetic acid wants Aflas, and DEF wants 316 stainless. Plan the offload, too: at 6,000 pounds empty this shell needs a forklift or crane rated to its weight to come off the truck, so confirm your receiving equipment before the LTL delivery - the freight quote does not include unloading.
