Vertical Tanks — Comprehensive Catalog
Vertical polyethylene storage tanks are the most-specified geometry across static water, chemical, and industrial process service. Our catalog spans every active SKU from Norwesco, Snyder Industries, Chem-Tainer, Enduraplas, and Bushman — from 10-gallon utility tanks to 15,500-gallon municipal-scale stationary vessels. Vertical orientation gives you the highest gallons-per-square-foot of footprint at the lowest manufacturing cost — and rotomolded one-piece polyethylene construction eliminates seams, gaskets, and corrosion failure modes that plague steel and fiberglass alternatives.
Applications
- Bulk water storage — potable (NSF 61 models on request), irrigation, fire suppression, livestock
- Chemical storage — acids, caustics, surfactants, oxidizers (verify resin via the Chemical Compatibility Guide)
- Industrial process holding, batch staging, day-tank service
- Agricultural — fertilizer, herbicide, AdBlue/DEF, water hauling supply
- Emergency potable water reserve and CIP (Clean-In-Place) make-up
Compliance & Standards
All vertical polyethylene tanks in this catalog are rotomolded to ASTM D1998 — the industry standard governing wall-thickness vs. specific gravity, seam-free construction, and stress-crack resistance — from FDA 21 CFR 177.1520 compliant polyethylene resin. UV-12 stabilizers are co-extruded for outdoor service. NSF 61 listed models available for potable drinking water — call to specify. Maximum continuous operating temperature: 120 °F HDPE, 140 °F XLPE.
Engineering & Selection
Two specifications drive vertical tank selection: specific gravity (SG) rating and head height. Hoop stress at the tank wall is a direct function of fluid density × static head. A 1.5 SG tank can store fluids up to 1.5× water density (e.g., 30% caustic, 32% sulfuric, most fertilizers); 1.9 SG tanks handle the heaviest commercial chemistries (e.g., ferric chloride, 50% caustic, brine). Always size SG rating to your worst-case fluid. Foundations must be flat, level, full-footprint pad — never on dirt or partial support. Concrete or compacted stabilized base recommended. NPSH for downstream pumps depends on head height — coordinate with your pump vendor before final placement.
Freight & Delivery
Tanks ship LTL motor freight from the closest stocking warehouse to your delivery ZIP. Typical transit 5–10 business days. Liftgate available at delivery (per-shipment fee). Always inspect at delivery and note damage on the bill of lading before signing — that is the carrier claim trigger. Bulk-order consolidation reduces per-tank freight 25–40%. Get your LTL freight quote by ZIP, or call 866-418-1777 for same-business-day quoted pricing.
Sizing & Selection
Pick capacity first, then verify diameter and height against your installation envelope. Most vertical tanks are listed by nominal capacity; actual fill volume to outlet centerline is 90–95% of nominal. Rotomolded tolerance is ±2–3% per ASTM D1998. Need help sizing?
