The shapes, and when each one is right

Forty-one verticals lead the page: Norwesco's 35 by 79 inch mold with the 16 inch manway, and Snyder, Chem-Tainer and Enduraplas versions in natural, black, blue and green. The manway size is worth a look at this capacity; a 16 inch opening is the difference between cleaning a tank and replacing it.

Horizontal leg tanks, 22 of them, are the vehicle and skid shape, with molded saddles, a fill on top and a drain at one end. Rainwater bodies from Bushman put the inlet and overflow where a downspout lands. Cone bottoms drain to the last gallon on a stand, and the holding tanks are below-grade vessels for a cabin or a lift station.

Install day

Set the tank on a flat surface that supports the whole bottom; cone bottoms go on their stand, bolted down. Leave the threaded vented manway as the vent unless you add a dedicated one, and never seal it under a pump suction.

Fit bulkheads at the molded flats with the gasket on the wet side, pipe with a flexible connection, and support the pipe so the tank never carries it. Keep the drawing on the job; the 3D model on this page is traced from the hero tank's own drawing.
