The 30 inch Norwesco vertical stands 56 inches, shoulder high on a 72 inch person, and it does not fit through a standard 36 inch doorway upright. Lay it down, or buy a doorway tank made for the job.

The shapes, and when each one is right

The vertical cylinder is the water and chemical default: a threaded vented lid on top, fittings low on the wall, the smallest footprint for the capacity. Norwesco's 30 by 56 inch mold is the common one; Snyder, Chem-Tainer and Enduraplas each mold their own, and the comparison table puts their walls side by side.

Rainwater tanks at this size are Bushman's slimline and round bodies with the inlet and overflow positions molded in. They sit under a downspout against a wall, which is why the slimline is 150 gallons on a footprint a vertical cannot match.

Horizontal leg tanks lie on molded saddles for truck beds, trailers and skids, with the fill on top and a drain at one end. Thirteen on this page; if the tank rides on a vehicle, start here.

Cone bottom tanks drain completely through a bottom outlet, on a stand, for mixing and full drawdown. Open tops are batch vessels with no lid; the polypropylene ones from Chem-Tainer take hotter liquids than any closed tank here. The inductor tank is a chemical-feed shape for spray rigs.
