The 30 inch Norwesco vertical stands 72 inches, eye to eye with a 72 inch person. It clears a 96 inch ceiling with room for the lid, and it does not fit a 36 inch doorway upright; the doorway and slimline shapes on this page exist for exactly that.

The shapes, and when each one is right

The vertical cylinder is the default and the deepest bench: 48 of them here, from Norwesco's 30 by 72 inch mold to Snyder, Chem-Tainer, Enduraplas and Dura-Cast versions in natural, black, blue and green. The comparison table puts their walls, lids and ratings side by side; the wall rating and the resin are the real differences.

Rainwater tanks are Bushman's slimline and round bodies with molded inlet and overflow positions for a downspout. Horizontal leg tanks, 17 of them, lie on saddle legs for truck beds, trailers and skids. Loafs ride even lower.

Cone bottom tanks drain completely through a bottom outlet on a stand; open tops are lidless batch vessels, with polypropylene versions for hot liquids. The holding tanks at this size are below-grade vessels for a cabin or a lift station, a different job that happens to hold 200 gallons.
