Engineering & Selection
Two specifications drive vertical tank selection: specific gravity (SG) rating and head height. Hoop stress at the tank wall is a direct function of fluid density × static head. A 1.5 SG tank can store fluids up to 1.5× water density (e.g., 30% caustic, 32% sulfuric, most fertilizers); 1.9 SG tanks handle the heaviest commercial chemistries (e.g., ferric chloride, 50% caustic, brine). Always size SG rating to your worst-case fluid. Foundations must be flat, level, full-footprint pad — never on dirt or partial support. Concrete or compacted stabilized base recommended.
