Where it goes

Pick this shell when the ground is fixed at ten feet and the sky is open. It is a serious reserve: a ranch that hauls water, a grower with a long irrigation set, a rural property that wants a fire reserve on site, a shop or plant that buffers process water. Fifteen and a half feet of tank changes the job of setting it: the pad must be level, continuous and carry the whole floor, with nothing hanging past the edge, and full of water the floor carries 70056 lb of liquid plus the tank, so a slab or a contained, compacted gravel bed is the base. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the side wall, with a 2 inch reducer in it. Connect 2 inch as supplied, or take the reducer out for the full 3 inch port and a faster drain. Match the valve to that choice, and support the valve and the first run of pipe so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, 188 inches up: fill point, vent and inspection opening.
