An 8400 gallon black vertical tank for bulk water or liquid storage
The Norwesco 8400 gallon black vertical storage tank, part number 42060B, is a rotomoulded polyethylene tank 119 inches in diameter and 188 inches tall, weighing 1806 lb empty. Where 8400 gallons goes
This is a tank for a ranch or community water system, a fire reserve that has to satisfy an inspector, a large irrigation buffer, a rainwater system on a commercial roof, or a plant that receives liquid by the tanker load. Full, it weighs about thirty five tons, and all of that sits on a 119 inch circle, so the pad is an engineered slab, not a gravel bed; the pad sizing framework and where the structural boundary sits explains where a simple pad stops being enough. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer, factory installed low in the sidewall. On a tank this size keep the 3 inch run: take the reducer out, thread in a 3 inch valve, and support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware. The reducer is there if the only pipe on site is 2 inch.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for the fill line, a float or level sensor and cleaning access. The vent must pass the air that moves with the liquid when a tanker pumps in or a big pump draws out; keep it clear.
- Liquid and temperature. At or below 1.5 specific gravity and at or below 120 F. Heavier liquids belong in the heavy duty versions below. Check anything other than water against polyethylene before the first fill.
