The Norwesco 8400 gallon heavy duty vertical liquid storage tank, part number 44397, is a blue polyethylene tank 120 inches in diameter and 187 inches tall, weighing 1960 lb empty. Where it goes
A vertical tank stands on its own flat bottom, so the pad is the installation. It needs a flat, level, continuous surface at least 120 inches across with no gravel points, drain or slope under it; full of water this tank is a concentrated load of better than 70100 lb on that circle, and much more at the full 1.9 rating. What goes in it
Liquid fertilizer is what most buyers put in a heavy duty vertical with a siphon outlet, with water and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles behind it. The 1.9 rating is the reason to pick this tank over the standard one: if the liquid is heavier than water, you want this wall thickness. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer and a siphon tube, factory installed. Run 3 inch plumbing off it for a fast transfer pump, or leave the reducer in and run 2 inch. A siphon outlet needs the pump to be primed or the line to be flooded before it will draw; plan the pump for that. Support the valve and the first length of pipe on their own so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
- Inlet. None is fitted. Fill through the manway, or tell us where you want a fill port and we will talk through the options before the order ships.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top, 187 inches up, so plan a ladder or a platform to reach it. The vent is what lets the tank breathe as it fills and empties; never seal it.
