The Norwesco 1010 Gallon Horizontal Drainable Leg Tank is built for haulers and nurse-rig operators who need to move a dense liquid load and drain it clean at the end of the run. Molded from high density linear polyethylene in blue, it carries a 1.9 specific gravity rating, so it is engineered to handle heavy agricultural and industrial liquids well above the weight of plain water. The tank measures 140 inches long, 47 inches wide, and 58 inches tall, with a 47.0 x 140.0 inch footprint that drops into most flatbed and skid frames. Its drainable design and revised sump area pull contents down to the outlet so you are not stranded with residual product. Match the size to your job with the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide.

Will it handle my load

Capacity is 1010 gallons, and the two weights below are what you spec the trailer, axles, and tie-downs around:

  • Filled with water: 8,423 lb of contents
  • At full 1.9 SG rating: up to 16,004 lb of contents
  • Footprint: 47.0 x 140.0 in

That spread matters: a fertilizer blend or brine sits far heavier than water, so a frame mounted for water weight can be badly overloaded when you switch products. The integrated legs and saddle geometry are shown on the technical drawing on this page; use them to lay out your support framing before you mount and fill.

Chemical compatibility

This tank is high density linear polyethylene (HDLPE) rated to 1.9 specific gravity, which is what lets it hold the dense liquids below at full weight. Compatibility always depends on concentration and temperature, so confirm your exact product against the OEM chemical-resistance chart before service, and match your fittings and gaskets to the chemical. The gasket and fitting material is the real buying decision here, so the verified chemicals are grouped by gasket family below.

EPDM-gasket service (most salts, glycols, DEF, urea):

Viton-gasket service (oxidizers and strong acids):

Aflas-gasket service: Peracetic Acid (30%) - 316SS fittings.

Heads-up on fittings before you order: DEF and peracetic acid need 316SS, and sulfuric acid needs CPVC rather than standard PVC, so do not default to PVC bulkheads and valves on those three. Browse the full chemical compatibility reference before you commit to a product, and remember the gasket material changes by chemical.

The mistake to avoid

The number-one error on a haul tank like this is mounting and filling it for water weight and then switching to a heavier product. With a 1.9 specific gravity rating this tank can carry up to 16,004 pounds of dense contents, but that load has to be supported and restrained correctly on a non-roadable trailer or skid. Before you move fertilizer, read our guide on Norwesco applicator and leg tanks for fertilizer and the breakdown of DOT classification for farm fleet use. If you blend on site, the physics of fertilizer-blend tank stratification will save you a spreader run gone off-spec.

This horizontal leg tank ships LTL freight, quoted live to your delivery ZIP. Norwesco molds it at four plants - Hanford, CA; Lancaster, OH; Shawnee, OK; and St. Bonifacius, MN - so on a 1010-gallon tank where freight is a real line item, your order ships from whichever plant is nearest you. Get an exact LTL rate to your address with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 and we will line up the closest plant and quote the freight for you.
