The Norwesco 1025 gallon horizontal leg tank, part number 40089, is a white polyethylene transport and storage tank 139 inches long, 49 inches wide and 54 inches tall, weighing 310 lb empty. On a trailer, a truck or the ground
At 139 inches long and 49 inches wide this is a trailer tank. It runs the length of a tandem axle utility trailer or an applicator trailer and keeps its weight low at 54 inches tall, so it tows better than an upright tank of the same volume. Norwesco calls for 4 bands on this tank when it rides on a vehicle, band part N-60057; the add-ons box on this page lists them. Strap through the moulded leg recesses, never over the manway. On the ground it needs a flat, continuous surface under every leg. A tank this long bridges a dip and then carries the full load on the wall instead of the legs, so take a straightedge along the deck or the pad before the tank goes down. Full of water it is close to 8550 lb and more with fertilizer, so the axle and tongue ratings, not the tank, are usually the limit. What goes in it
Water, liquid fertilizer and the common farm chemicals that polyethylene handles are the normal loads. Liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need the heavy duty version of this tank, not this one. Check anything other than water in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill, and ask us if the liquid is not on the list. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch fitting with a 2 inch siphon. The siphon draws from the low point of the tank so you empty it rather than leave a few inches behind. Tell us what valve or hose you are connecting and we will confirm the thread and fitting details with Norwesco before the tank ships.
- Manway. A 16 inch manway on top, wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, to drop a float in, and to get a hand and a brush inside to clean.
- Bands. 4 bands required for vehicle use, part N-60057. Order them with the tank so they arrive together.
