Norwesco builds this 1250 gallon two compartment body under several part numbers, and what separates them is the state approval each number carries, not the tank. Order 43542 for an Illinois install; for other states, tell us where the tank is going and we name the part number on that state's list, because a tank bought on the wrong number can fail the inspection even though the body is the same. Openings, plumbing and what to check before you buy
- Inlet and outlet. A 4 inch gasket with tee assembly at each end, shipped loose. The gasket seals the pipe in the tank wall; the tee drops the inflow below the scum layer and holds solids back at the outlet. Fit them before the tank goes in the hole, the inlet tee turned to the house line and the outlet tee to the drainfield line.
- Access. A 20 inch opening on top for pumping and inspection. If the burial puts it below grade, a riser brings the lid up; tell us the depth and we quote one with the tank.

Setting it
Follow Norwesco's installation instructions and the conditions on your permit. Dig to the drawing, bed the tank on a level, rock free base, fill it with water as you backfill so the walls are supported from both sides, and keep vehicles off the area for good. In wet ground an empty tank wants to float, so do not leave it empty in an open hole overnight. Have the inspector see the tank set and the plumbing connected before the backfill covers it.
