The Norwesco 2500 gallon heavy duty vertical storage tank, part number 42384, is a light blue high density linear polyethylene tank 102 inches in diameter and 79 inches tall, weighing 380 lb empty. It is the low, wide 2500 gallon shape, built for sites where height is the constraint, under a roof, a canopy or a mezzanine. It comes with a 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting as the outlet and a 16 inch threaded vented manway on top. Where the short, wide shape wins
At 79 inches tall this tank goes through more doors and under more roofs than any other 2500 gallon vertical tank Norwesco makes, and the manway is reachable from a short step rather than a ladder. The cost of that is footprint: 102 inches across needs a pad to match, flat, level and continuous under the whole base, because a polyethylene tank carries its load on the full bottom, not on a ring. The heavy duty wall is the reason to choose this over the standard tank: fertilizers, brines, acids and other liquids heavier than 1.5 times water need it. Openings and fittings
- Outlet. A 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the wall. Your valve threads straight into it. Fit the valve before the first fill and support the pipe within a foot or so of the tank so the fitting carries liquid, not the weight of a valve and a hose.
- Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top for filling, a float or a level sensor, and cleaning access. Keep the vent clear; a pump pulling from a tank with a blocked vent will collapse the wall.
- Temperature. 120 F is the service limit. Exothermic blends and hot process water are the usual ways a tank gets there without anyone meaning it to.
