1,000 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, ASTM certified
The Snyder 1831000N45 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 60 inches across and 89 inches tall, holding 1,000 gallons at 300 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 15,846 pounds of contents against 8,340 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, and it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top, a 3 year warranty, and it ships as standard LTL freight.

The full-density wall at 1,000 gallons
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 300 pounds of resin is what that takes at 1,000 gallons, 40 pounds more than the 1.5 grade in this same shell. The certification against ASTM D1998 is what says the wall was sized that way. Full, it puts 15,846 pounds on a 60 inch circle at the rating, so it is strapped to a wall and set on a slab in full contact. The tank sizing calculator sizes the tank to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 60 x 89 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1831000N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 1,000 | 60 x 89 in | 300 lb |
| 1831000N43 (1.5 SG, ASTM certified) | 1,000 | 60 x 89 in | 260 lb |
| 1831000N42 (XLPE) | 1,000 | 60 x 89 in | 300 lb |
| 1831000N40 (XLPE, lighter wall) | 1,000 | 60 x 89 in | 260 lb |
| 1810000C34 (tall) | 850 | 48 x 117 in | 210 lb |
| 1710000C26 (low profile) | 1,100 | 86 x 55 in | 160 lb |
The N43 is the 1.5 wall in this same shell for brine, fertilizer and coagulant as delivered. The N42 is cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers at this tank's weight, and the N40 is the lighter cross-linked wall. The 1810000C34 stands 850 gallons on a 48 inch base at 117 inches for a narrow corner, and the 1710000C26 lays 1,100 gallons down to 55 inches on an 86 inch base for a low roof.

Access and outlet
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway; filled by hose or truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes.
- Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the chemical at order time; a flexible connector to the pump suction, with the valve carried by a bracket rather than the fitting.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
A white 89 inch tank shows its level in daylight; fit a low-level float switch so a pump never runs dry. Mount the dosing pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and keep the tank out of direct sun where the chemical is light-sensitive. A single wall tank of regulated chemical stands in a berm or on a containment pallet sized to it.
Turnover and changeover
Size the refill schedule so the tank turns over before the chemical degrades. At changeover, drain through the outlet, rinse through the manway with a wand, drain again, and let it dry before the new fill, because residue from the last product is the usual cause of a cloudy first batch. Log each fill with its date and strength.
Put to use
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a small plant with a berm, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine for a softener bank, and any 1,000 gallon vessel of dense chemical where the certification has to be on file. One chemical per tank, labeled.
How it ships
The 1831000N45 ships palletized as LTL freight (NMFC 156600-02) at a class rate; the freight cost estimator shows the lane to your ZIP; the listed figure is the price before freight. A forklift or a pallet jack moves 300 pounds. Strap it, water-fill to the manway and hold it, then drain and dry before the chemical connection is made, and keep the certification paperwork with the project file. A strap that is checked once a season is a strap that holds; put it on the same calendar as the gutters.
