Duties that never test a 1.5 rating

Rinse and process water at a plant with a tall bay and a crowded floor, a nursery or farm feed solution that has to stay dark, makeup water on a skid, reclaimed or rainwater on a site that wants a black tank so nothing grows in it, a wash bay that needs 1,200 gallons standing in a corner. You buy the shell and the colour and stop there: on water or any liquid near 8.34 lb per gallon the lighter wall is the whole specification. This is the plain polyethylene wall with a 120 F limit; a hot liquid or a chemical belongs in the crosslinked version of this shell.

What to check before you buy

1. The pad. A 60 inch circle concentrates the load: 10,008 lb of water, or 15,012 lb at the rating, all bearing on the floor. Engineer the slab with our concrete pad sizing guide rather than by rule of thumb, level and in full contact.
2. Restraint. A shell 109 inches tall on a base this narrow is the easiest shape in the range for a gust to move while it is empty at 300 lb. Bands to structure or anchors in the slab go on before the piping does; check them after the first storm.
3. Headroom. The manway sits at 109 inches and the fill and vent lines want room above it, so measure the roof line before the order goes in.
4. The outlet. The 18 inch threaded vented manway is the only opening carried on this page. Tell us the liquid and the draw-off you need and we will confirm the fitting and its material before a hole is cut. Snyder's drawing is linked under Technical Drawing.
5. Fill and vent. A dip tube to the floor so a full-height fall does not aerate and foam the load; the vent sized to the truck's pump.

Black hides the level, so a sender is part of the install. Carry the first valve on its own support with a flexible connector to hard pipe, and set the pump below the outlet with a low-level float.

For a dense liquid, the 1,200 gallon heavy duty XLPE tank is the higher-rated wall in this shell. The crosslinked walls at this rating are the 1,200 gallon black XLPE tank and the 1,200 gallon XLPE tank in natural white. Shipping and receiving

The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's Chowchilla, CA plant, 60 by 60 by 109 inches at 300 lb. Price the lane to your ZIP with the freight cost estimator. Unload with straps under the body, never a sling through the manway, straight onto the finished pad. Check the part number against 1830200N49 on the bill of lading, then fill with water to the manway, hold it, walk the base twice, and drain it before the working liquid goes in.
