The Snyder Industries 125 Gallon Plastic Horizontal Leg Tank (SKU SII-1003600N45) is a white polyethylene horizontal leg tank built for hauling and transferring liquid by trailer, skid, or pickup bed. It measures 44 inches long by 32 inches wide by 35 inches tall and rides on integrally molded legs that cradle the cylindrical body and keep it stable in transit. With a 1.9 specific gravity rating, this tank is rated for heavier-than-water contents - the trait that separates it from the lightweight water-only haulers people find under "horizontal tank," "leg tank," and "horizontal leg tank."

Will it work for your job?

Filled with plain water, this 125-gallon tank carries 1,042 pounds. Because the polyethylene is rated to 1.9 specific gravity, the maximum rated contents weight climbs to 1,981 pounds - so for dense liquids the limiting factor is the weight rating, not the gallon mark. That distinction is concrete on this tank's own chemical chart: 98% sulfuric acid is roughly 1.84 specific gravity, so a full 125 gallons would run near 1,920 pounds - right against the 1,981-pound contents ceiling. Size the load to the liquid's actual density rather than its volume. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide to match your liquid's density to this tank's ratings, and confirm the legs and footprint (32.0 x 44.0 inches) fit your trailer or bed before ordering. Fitting port sizes and locations are not published in our catalog for this unit - see the technical drawing on this page, or call 866-418-1777 to confirm outlet, fill, and vent sizing before ordering.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity. The catalog resin reads HDLPE with a question mark, so before any chemical service confirm with us whether the specific unit is HDLPE or XLPE (cross-linked) - the two resins differ in chemical resistance, and the distinction matters for aggressive contents. Built only from the OEM chemical-resistance chart for this tank, the following are listed as compatible at the concentrations shown, with the recommended fitting and gasket materials. Ratings are concentration- and temperature-specific, so match the chart to your exact chemical. Two ceilings catch people in the field: Sodium Hypochlorite is rated only at under 16.5% (12.5% trade bleach is fine; industrial 18-20% is not on this chart), and Ozonated Water is capped at up to 10 PPM.

The single biggest mistake on a tank like this is matching the gasket to the chemical incorrectly. Most entries run EPDM, but the oxidizers and strong acids do not: Viton is required for Hydrochloric, Hydrofluoric, Hydrofluosilicic, Hydrogen Peroxide, Phosphoric, Sodium Hypochlorite, and Sulfuric (Sulfuric also calls for CPVC fittings), and Aflas for Peracetic Acid. On fittings, DEF and Peracetic Acid are 316 stainless only - brass, zinc-plated, or lower-grade steel will contaminate or corrode across the stainless-spec group. For full context on selecting fittings and gaskets, see the chemical compatibility resource.
