The Snyder Industries 125 Gallon Plastic Horizontal Leg Tank (SKU SII-1120000N45) is a white polyethylene horizontal leg tank built for transport and field use, where the molded support legs hold the shell steady against sloshing loads on a skid, trailer, or pickup bed. It measures 49 inches long by 30 inches wide by 35 inches tall, with a 30.0 x 49.0 inch footprint that drops into most utility-trailer and truck-bed configurations. This is the horizontal tank to reach for when you need a stable, low-center-of-gravity vessel for hauling water or compatible liquids.

Will it handle your load?

Filled with water, this tank carries roughly 1,042 pounds, so size your skid, trailer axle, and tie-downs to that figure plus the empty tank weight before your first haul. But because Snyder rates this shell to a 1.9 specific gravity, the maximum rated contents weight climbs to about 1,981 pounds with a denser liquid - nearly 939 pounds more than water-full, almost double. That higher number, not the water weight, is what your mounting and restraint have to survive. The most common mistake on a horizontal leg tank is mounting for the water weight and then loading a heavy chemical; always design the support and tie-downs around the full 1.9 SG rated weight. Use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm capacity and weight against your application, and see the technical drawing on this page for fitting and outlet locations.

Chemical compatibility

This is a polyethylene tank with a 1.9 specific gravity rating. The resin is recorded as HDLPE, so confirm whether your unit is HDLPE or XLPE with us at 866-418-1777 before putting it into chemical service - cross-linked and linear polyethylene behave differently with aggressive chemistries, and the chemical-resistance ratings below assume the OEM resin, so that confirmation gates the entire compatibility list, not just one chemical. The list comes from the OEM chemical-resistance chart and is concentration- and temperature-specific; match your exact concentration and service temperature before committing. The upside of the 1.9 SG rating is reach: this shell already covers essentially every chemistry below at full concentration, so there is no higher-SG tank to step up to for these services.

At the listed concentrations, this 1.9 SG shell is rated for acetic acid (60%), aluminum sulfate (50%), calcium chloride (40%), DEF (32.5%), ethylene glycol (100%), ferric chloride (50%), ferric sulfate (60%), ferrous sulfate (20%), hydrochloric acid (37%), hydrofluoric acid (48%), hydrofluosilicic acid (26%), hydrogen peroxide (50%), magnesium chloride (30%), peracetic acid (30%), phosphoric acid (85%), polyaluminum chloride, potassium carbonate (50%), potassium hydroxide (saturated), propylene glycol, sodium bisulfate, sodium bisulfite, sodium carbonate (30%), sodium hypochlorite (<16.5%), sodium thiosulfate (40%), sulfuric acid (98%), urea solution (50%), zinc orthophosphate, and ozonated water (up to 10 PPM).

Fitting and gasket materials matter

The chart specifies different fitting and gasket materials per chemical, and getting this wrong is the quietest way to ruin an otherwise compatible installation. DEF requires 316 stainless fittings; zinc orthophosphate runs on PP or 316 stainless. The acid services - hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, sodium hypochlorite, and sulfuric - require Viton gaskets, and sulfuric acid specifically calls for CPVC fittings. Peracetic acid is the trap: it needs 316 stainless fittings with an Aflas gasket - not EPDM, not Viton - and that single mis-spec is the most common way these builds fail. Most of the salt and base chemistries run on PVC fittings with EPDM gaskets. Spec the fitting and gasket material to the chemical, not to the tank, and cross-check everything against the full chemical compatibility reference before you order valves and bulkhead hardware.

This horizontal leg tank ships LTL freight from the nearest Snyder plant of three - Lincoln, NE, Merced, CA, or Philippi, WV - with the rate quoted live to your ZIP, so a West Coast haul ships from Merced rather than eating freight across the country. Get your number with the Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 to talk through mounting, fittings, and the right tank for a DOT non-roadable trailer build.
