The Snyder Industries 1500 Gallon Black Vertical Water Storage Tank (SKU WB45) is built for serious bulk water storage where capacity and a stable footprint matter. Molded in black polyethylene to cut light penetration and discourage algae growth, this vertical storage tank holds 1,500 gallons, stands 70 inches tall, and sits on an 86 x 86 inch footprint. It is rated to a specific gravity of 1.0, which is what general water storage applications call for. If your water carries dissolved solids or chemistry that pushes density above 1.0, that is your signal to step up to a higher-SG-rated tank before committing this one to service.

How it works for your site

Full, this vertical tank carries 12,510 pounds of water, so the pad and the ground beneath it have to be engineered for that load spread across the 86 x 86 inch base. SG 1.0 covers roughly 8.34 pounds per gallon of plain water; anything heavier - brine, slurry, or treated process water - exceeds this tank's rating and belongs in an SG 1.5 or 1.9 vessel. We stock higher-SG verticals, so call 866-418-1777 to spec one rather than overloading a water-rated tank. For sizing against your daily draw and refill cycle, use the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide, and review Concrete Pad Sizing for Above-Ground Polyethylene Tanks before you pour, since a 12,510-pound contents load against an unlevel or undersized pad is the most common cause of premature tank stress. For rural fire-protection reservoirs, the Fire-Water Reservoir Tank Design guide walks through NFPA 22 sizing and freeze protection, and operators aggregating grey-water, rainwater, or HVAC condensate should read the Industrial Water Reuse Tank Topology guide.

Fittings and access

This tank comes configured with a flange, a 12 x 15 inch fitting, a 1-1/2 inch polypropylene bulkhead fitting, a 2 inch polypropylene bulkhead fitting, and an 18 inch polyethylene manway with a 4 inch vent and tie. Both bulkheads seal with EPDM gaskets, which suit potable and general water service but are not rated for petroleum or many solvents - confirm chemistry before reusing this tank on anything but water. The dual 1-1/2 inch and 2 inch outlets give you separate fill and draw, or supply and overflow, without retrofitting, and the vented manway keeps the tank from pulling a vacuum on rapid drawdown. The manway also includes a tie for wind or seismic anchoring, which matters on an 86 x 86 footprint that sits empty and lightweight for much of its duty cycle. The flange and the 12 x 15 inch fitting are not labeled by purpose here, so confirm their locations and intended use - along with every other fitting elevation - against the technical drawing on this page before you set the tank and trench your lines, since moving a bulkhead after install is far harder than planning around it.

Commissioning

Once the tank is set and plumbed, fill it with water before relying on it. The Hydrostatic Test Methodology guide covers the water-fill discipline, pad settlement monitoring, and fitting leak-detection hold-time math that turn a new install into an accepted one.

Freight

This vertical water storage tank ships LTL freight, quoted live to your ZIP from the nearest stocking plant - Lincoln, NE or Philippi, WV. The two-plant footprint works in your favor: an eastern ZIP usually ships cheaper out of Philippi, a central or western ZIP out of Lincoln, and our estimator auto-picks the nearest origin for the lowest haul. Because a 1,500 gallon tank is a large-cube freight item, get an exact number through our Freight Cost Estimator or by calling 866-418-1777. The listed price is for the tank only and does not include freight. Questions on fittings, lead time, or which plant serves your address fastest? Call 866-418-1777 and we will spec it with you.
