The Snyder Industries 2000 Gallon HDPE Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a Chowchilla-built, ASTM-certified polyethylene vertical that holds 2,000 gallons in a square 96-by-96-inch footprint and stands 84 inches tall. Snyder molds it from high-density polyethylene in white and rates it to a 1.5 specific gravity, so it carries the load of any liquid up to one-and-a-half times the weight of water without exceeding its design. For plain water service, that rating is real reserve, not a footnote: this is a vertical storage tank built to do more than its everyday job.

Does it work for your site

Filled with water, this tank carries 16,680 pounds of liquid, and at its full 1.5 specific-gravity rating it is built to hold up to 25,020 pounds of contents. That 50% density headroom is a real spec advantage: if you may later switch this vessel to a heavier liquid such as brine or some mild process fluids up to 1.5 SG, the tank already carries that rating, so there is no need to re-buy. Plan the pad accordingly either way: a flat, level, fully supporting concrete or compacted base sized for the 96.0 x 96.0-inch footprint, with no point loads under the floor. The tank ships with a flange fitting, an 18-inch polyethylene threaded and vented lid, and a manway with a 15-inch access opening. The flanged outlet and the threaded bulkhead take standard PE/EPDM gasketed bulkhead fittings sized to the drawing's outlet callout — inspect and seat every gasket and o-ring before you fill. Confirm the fitting layout and exact outlet locations against the technical drawing on this page before you set plumbing or pour a containment curb. If you are still settling on capacity for a fire reserve, irrigation buffer, or process feed, run the numbers through our Tank Sizing Calculator and read the Tank Sizing Guide.

Sizing and engineering references

An atmospheric polyethylene vertical needs venting that keeps up with how fast you fill and draw it down. Verify the 18-inch vented lid's vent area is adequate for your actual fill and drawdown rate — an under-vented atmospheric vertical can pull a vacuum and collapse on fast draw. The API 2000 vent-capacity worked examples for 1,500-to-10,000-gallon verticals walk through inbreathing, outbreathing, and combined sizing so that lid actually does its job during transfer. For freeboard and wall-thickness context behind the ASTM D1998 rating this tank is built to, see HDPE tank wall thickness at the vapor-saturated headspace and the Snyder Captor freeboard sizing per ASTM D1998. If this is going into a rural fire-protection role, the NFPA 22 fire-water reservoir design guide covers sizing discipline and cold-climate freeze protection.

The mistake to avoid

The common error on a tank this size is under-building the base. At 25,020 pounds fully loaded to its rating, an uneven or undersized pad lets the floor flex and concentrates stress where the wall meets the bottom — the area least forgiving on a molded vertical. Set it on a full, level, properly sized foundation, and snug flanged fittings down evenly rather than over-tightening to chase a seep. Plan your inspection access realistically, too: the 15-inch manway is the clear access opening, fine for interior inspection and cleaning but a tight confined-space entry, so keep its standard gasket and clamp ring on hand.

This Snyder 2000-gallon vertical ships LTL freight from the Snyder plant in Chowchilla, California, with freight quoted live to your ZIP. Because that is the only origin plant, East and Midwest buyers should pull a live ZIP quote early — LTL on a 96-inch-footprint vertical is dimensional. Get a freight estimate now with our Freight Cost Estimator, or call 866-418-1777 for help confirming fittings, the 15-inch manway access, and delivery to your site. List price excludes freight.
