A 3000 gallon black vertical tank, 90 by 127 inches, for water and liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity
Snyder part number 8160000N49 is a 3000 gallon black polyethylene vertical storage tank, 90 inches in diameter and 127 inches tall, weighing 675 lb empty. The wall is rated for liquids up to 1.5 specific gravity with a 120 F service limit. On top is an 18 inch threaded vented manway. 3000 gallons of water weighs 25,020 lb; at the full 1.5 rating the contents weigh about 37,530 lb, which leaves water and most liquid fertilizers comfortably inside the rating. Snyder backs it with a 3 year warranty. The black wall keeps light out, so water stored outdoors stays clear of algae. The same name appears on another Snyder shell, so order by the part number.

The everyday 3000 gallon water tank
This is the tank most buyers mean when they ask for a 3000 gallon black water tank: a home or cabin on hauled water, a barn or arena, a nursery, a mobile wash operation's base tank, or a rainwater system off a large roof. The 90 inch base fits beside a building or through a farm gate, and the 127 inch height keeps the manway within ladder reach. Liquid fertilizer held between applications suits it too. If the liquid weighs more than 1.5 times water, choose the heavy duty version of this shell, which we also list; for anything other than water, check the chemical compatibility guide first.
Plan the usable volume, not just the nameplate. You will leave room at the top for the manway and any float, and the Snyder freeboard sizing guide explains how much. For fire water, the fire water reservoir design guide covers sizing and freeze protection; for reclaimed water at a facility, the industrial water reuse storage guide. A full tank of water is 25,020 lb on a 90 inch circle, so the concrete pad sizing guide is worth reading before you pour. The tank sizing calculator and tank sizing guide check the volume.
Before you buy: openings
- The manway. One 18 inch threaded vented manway on top. Fill and clean through it, and keep the vent clear so the tank does not pull a vacuum when you draw water out quickly.
- The outlet. No outlet or fitting is listed with this part number. Tell us the line size and whether a pump or gravity draws from it, and we will confirm with Snyder what the tank comes with.
- The base. Level and continuous, with no rocks or gaps under the floor. A tank that rocks on a high spot stresses the bottom every time it fills.
- The drawing. Snyder's drawing for 8160000N49 is linked under Technical Drawing on this page.

Shipping and receiving
The tank ships LTL at freight class 300 from Snyder's Marked Tree, Arkansas plant, listed at 90 by 90 by 127 inches and 675 lb. Have a way to unload it, a lift with straps or enough people, and lift from the base, never by the manway. Restrain it if it will stand empty in wind. Fill it with water the first time and watch the base and manway before you count on it. At the tailgate, check the bill of lading against 8160000N49 and walk the shell.
