Chemical compatibility

This is an HDLPE tank rated to 1.9 specific gravity. HDLPE resists a broad range of chemistries, but it is not cross-linked (XLPE), so confirm the resin requirement for your specific service before ordering for aggressive oxidizers. The tank does not ship with pre-installed chemical fittings; specify your fitting and gasket materials at order so we configure the ports to your service, because the right elastomer and fitting alloy depend on the chemical, not on the tank. The gasket shifts to Viton on the oxidizers and strong acids - hydrochloric, hydrogen peroxide, phosphoric, sulfuric, sodium hypochlorite - and to Aflas on peracetic acid. The fitting alloy shifts to stainless on a few services: DEF, peracetic acid, propylene glycol, and zinc orthophosphate call for 316SS or PP/316SS rather than PVC. The mistake to avoid

The most common and most expensive error on a chemical feed station is matching the gasket to the tank instead of to the chemical. An EPDM gasket that is fine on aluminum sulfate or DEF will fail fast on sodium hypochlorite or sulfuric acid, where you need Viton. The same trap catches fittings: defaulting to PVC plumbing on a DEF or peracetic acid line will mis-spec the system, since those want 316SS. On sodium hypochlorite, note the <16.5% ceiling on the chart - standard 12.5% trade bleach is in range, but stronger product is not covered. The second mistake is under-rating SG on the dense end: on sulfuric acid at 98% or ferric chloride at 50%, plan around the 5,229 lb max-contents figure, not the water weight.
