Why opaque, and why outdoors

Sodium hypochlorite loses strength in light and heat, which is why the hypochlorite day tank at a well house, a pool plant or a small water system is so often the one that gets moved outside into the sun and then under-performs. Snyder's answer for this size is an opaque wall that keeps light off the contents; the heat you still manage with shade, and the 120 F limit is the ceiling for the tank itself. Thirty-five gallons is the day tank size: a feed pump draws from it, a larger tank or a drum refills it, and the double wall catches a drip from a loose suction line before it reaches the slab. What to check before you buy

1. The liquid. Snyder names this tank for sodium hypochlorite. If yours is a different chemical, the same shell comes in other versions linked below; tell us the liquid and we match the resin.
2. The footprint. 22 inches in diameter, 36 inches tall. It fits on a bench, in a feed cabinet or on a small housekeeping pad, but measure the lid clearance: the 6 inch lid needs room above it to open.
3. The fittings. Specify the suction and the fill connections with the order so they are installed at the plant. A feed pump suction, a vent and a fill cap are the usual set.
4. The floor. Full of a 1.9 liquid it weighs 555 lb plus 45 lb of tank on a 22 inch circle. A level concrete slab or a steel shelf is right; a wooden bench may not be. When it arrives, check the part number 1000112N52 on the carton, look over the outer shell for a dent or a scuff from the ride, and fill it with water the first time so any problem shows up with something harmless inside.
