The Snyder Industries 360 Gallon HDPE Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a 1.9 specific-gravity rated vertical tank built for heavy-liquid storage where ordinary 1.5-SG vessels fall short. Molded in white polyethylene on a 53" round footprint with a 59" overall height, it holds 360 gallons and carries ASTM-certified construction. The 1.9 SG rating means the wall and floor are engineered to carry contents up to 1.9 times the density of water, so it covers full water service with substantial margin and qualifies for denser liquids as well.

Will this tank work for your application?

Full of water, this 360-gallon vertical holds roughly 3,002 pounds of liquid; at its maximum rated contents weight the tank is engineered to carry up to 5,705 pounds, which is what the 1.9 specific-gravity rating buys you. Size your pad and supports to the loaded weight, not the empty shell — across the 53" x 53" footprint (about 15.3 sq ft), 5,705 pounds works out to roughly 373 lb per square foot of pad bearing. Per the technical drawing on this page, fittings include a flange, an 18" PE threaded and vented fitting, and a manway with 15" access for interior reach during cleaning and inspection. Those openings also set the gaskets you order: match an 18" vented-lid gasket and a 15"-access manway gasket to the tank. Run the numbers for your own duty cycle with the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide before you commit to a footprint.

Specs at a glance

Capacity is 360 gallons in a vertical storage tank configuration measuring 53" diameter by 59" tall. The body is white polyethylene with a 1.9 SG load rating and ASTM-certified construction following the ASTM D1998 standard for polyethylene storage tanks. This is the Snyder HDPE vertical storage tank operators search for when they need a vertical tank that handles more than plain water without stepping up to a specialty vessel. For water-only duty a 1.5-SG tank is enough; this 1.9-SG build is the step-up that also carries the weight of denser liquids — brines and fertilizer solutions up to 1.9 SG — so one tank future-proofs a heavier-liquid switch. For thinking through wall behavior over the long haul, our guide on HDPE tank wall thickness and ASTM D1998 sizing logic covers where premature failures originate and why liquid-side inspection misses them. If you are sizing for rural fire protection, our fire-water reservoir design guide (NFPA 22 sizing discipline) covers where a 360-gallon vertical fits in a private fire stack, and the Snyder Captor double-wall freeboard guide works through usable volume per ASTM D1998 if you move to containment.

The mistake to avoid

The common error on a 1.9-SG tank is treating the rating as optional. The 5,705-pound maximum rated contents weight is the real design ceiling, and your concrete pad and anchoring have to match it, not the lighter water weight. For above-ground installs, our concrete pad sizing framework (ACI 360R-10 and the ACI 318 boundary) walks through getting the foundation right the first time. One caution: the 1.9 SG rating is a weight rating, not a chemical-compatibility rating. It tells you the tank can carry a denser liquid; it does not tell you that liquid is compatible with HDPE. Confirm both — that your liquid's specific gravity falls at or under 1.9 and that the chemistry is suited to polyethylene — before filling.
