5,100 gallons under eight feet, with the 1.5 wall

The Snyder 32388 is a white high density linear polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 142 inches across and only 93 inches tall, holding 5,100 gallons at 1,224 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5, or 63,801 pounds of contents against 42,534 for water, so it holds brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered as well as water, on the low, wide shape that puts a tanker load under a barn roof, and the 3 inch outlet carries a 2 inch reducer and an internal siphon tube. A 20 inch manway, and it ships as oversize freight.

Twenty-one tons of water under eight feet

Full of water, the 32388 puts 42,534 pounds on a 142 inch circle, and the low shape puts it there without the lever arm a tall tank has in wind, with the manway reached from a short ladder. The 1.5 wall carries 181 pounds more resin than the water-rated tank in this shape, sized under ASTM D1998 for a liquid half again as dense as water; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains that logic. A siphon tube outlet draws from the floor through a fitting set higher on the wall, which keeps the bulkhead out of the sediment; prime it once and it stays primed. The floor bears on the whole pad, so the pad is what matters: a compacted, screeded gravel base or a slab in full contact. The 2,000 gallon tall tank guide and the 500 gallon vertical tank guide cover the smaller size classes; the tank sizing calculator tells you whether 5,100 gallons covers the draw, and the tank sizing guide covers days of supply.

The 32376 is the water-rated tank in this same low shape, 181 pounds lighter, for water and nothing heavier. The 32372 and 32378 stand the same 5,100 gallons on a 102 inch base at 159 inches, with the 1.5 and 1.9 walls, for a site with height and less floor, and the 1002100C34 is the general-grade 5,000 on that base.

Where the pipe goes

  • Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer and an internal siphon tube; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad.
  • Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Leave the reducer in for a 2 inch pump suction; take it out for a 3 inch fire line or a fast gravity drain. A siphon outlet needs the pump or the gravity line below the tank floor to stay primed, and a foot of drop is enough; if the line ever runs dry, refill the tank above the fitting and open the valve to re-prime. Tee a sight tube off the outlet to read the level, or fit a float gauge on the manway. In a cold climate the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are insulated or drained; at this volume the body freezes slowly and from the top down.

The work it does

Well storage for a farm under a low roof, irrigation and stock water, a rain cistern under a large roof, fertilizer solution and brine at the 1.5 rating, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the 3 inch outlet and the low center of gravity both count. One liquid per tank, labeled.

Freight, in plain terms

At 142 inches across the 32388 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate, often with an escort; the freight cost estimator prices the lane to your ZIP; the figure listed here is before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 1,224 pounds on the pad. Fill it to the manway once, prime the siphon, and check the outlet fitting before it goes to work. Save the pallet; a tank that ever has to move again is easier to move on it.
