5,000 gallons at 1.5 specific gravity, ASTM certified
The Snyder 1002100N43 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 102 inches across and 154 inches tall, holding 5,000 gallons at 950 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.5, or 62,550 pounds of contents against 41,700 for water, which covers coagulants, brines, caustic and hypochlorite as delivered without paying for the heavier 1.9 wall, and it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top, a 3 year warranty, and it ships as oversize freight.

Buying the wall the liquid needs
A tank's specific gravity rating is the density of the heaviest liquid its wall is sized to hold for its service life; a 1.5 wall covers alum, ferric, brine, caustic and hypochlorite as delivered with room to spare; the 1.9 wall is for concentrated sulfuric acid and nothing lighter needs it. The certification is against ASTM D1998, and the way a tank meets it is in the wall; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the D1998 sizing logic and why a tall wall is inspected in the headspace. Work out the usable volume once thermal expansion is accounted for with the freeboard sizing guide. The 5,000 gallon vertical tank buyers guide compares the shapes at this volume across makers; the tank sizing calculator turns feed rate and delivery interval into a volume, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 102 x 154 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1002100N43 (this tank, 1.5 SG, ASTM certified) | 5,000 | 102 x 154 in | 950 lb |
| 1002100N45 (1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 5,000 | 102 x 154 in | 950 lb |
| 1002100N40 (XLPE) | 5,000 | 102 x 154 in | 950 lb |
| 1002100C37-BLACK (water) | 5,000 | 102 x 154 in | 950 lb |
| 5480000N40 (tall, XLPE) | 4,900 | 90 x 202 in | 1,450 lb |
| 32372 | 5,100 | 102 x 159 in | 1,301 lb |
The N45 is the 1.9 wall for concentrated acid, the N40 is cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers, and the C37 is the black water tank, all in this same shell. The 5480000N40 stands 4,900 gallons on a 90 inch base, 48 inches taller in cross-linked resin, and the 32372 is the heavy-wall 5,100 on this base, 5 inches taller.

Connections
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 154 inches up; a dip tube for the fill, an outdoor vent on caustic and hypochlorite, and vent capacity to match the tanker.
- Outlet: tell us the chemical when ordering and the bulkhead fitting is matched to it; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
Full, the tank loads a 102 inch circle to 62,550 pounds at the rating: an engineered, full-contact slab under all of the floor, with straps holding the empty tank against wind, and the manway reached from a fixed platform. A single wall tank of regulated chemical needs a berm sized to its volume; where there is none, Snyder's double wall tanks on this same footprint carry the containment inside. With water in it, a 5,000 gallon tank is a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes.
What it holds in practice
Coagulant, brine and caustic bulk storage at water and wastewater plants with a berm, hypochlorite at short turnover, and any regulated liquid of moderate density at plant scale where the certification has to be on file. Give it one chemical, a label that satisfies both inspectors, and a closed manway.
Getting it to the pad
At 102 inches across and 154 inches long on the deck the 1002100N43 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices it for your ZIP, and the listed price is before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 950 pounds on the slab. One water fill to the manway, a hold, and a look at the outlet fitting come before the first chemical delivery. Once it is full and holding, leave it alone for a day before the plumbing goes on; a settled tank is a quiet one.
