Tall, narrow and strapped

A 48 inch base under 117 inches of dense liquid has a high center of gravity, so this tank is strapped to a wall or to anchors as a matter of course, and its manway is a step-ladder reach. In return it stores 850 gallons on a footprint smaller than a pallet and keeps a pump suction flooded with a tall column. Resins on the 48 x 117 inch shell

The N42 is the cross-linked polyethylene version, 10 pounds heavier, for oxidizers and warm liquids; the N48 is another resin option at the same weight. The 32445 is the 750 gallon tank on the same base, 11 inches shorter, with a siphon outlet for a spill pallet. Openings as shipped

• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting at the bottom of the sidewall, factory installed; a PVC or CPVC adapter with a compatible sealant, a flexible transition, and a valve supported off the floor.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 117 inches up.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Nearly ten feet of head over a 2 inch outlet floods a pump suction or gives a transfer line real gravity flow. A white tank shows its level in daylight; in a pump room, a sight tube off the outlet. Fill through a dip tube so dense liquid does not splash the lid, and keep the vent clear so a fast draw cannot pull a vacuum on the wall.

In service

In a freezing climate a solution expands against a wall not designed for ice; house the tank or keep it above freezing.

Two people carry 210 pounds through a door. Strap it before it is filled, water-fill to the manway with a hold, and check the outlet fitting before it goes into service. The first fill is the only cheap time to find a problem, so do it in daylight with someone watching the base.
