Chemical compatibility
This tank is molded in HDLPE rated to 1.9 specific gravity. HDLPE and XLPE behave differently in chemical service, so confirm HDLPE versus XLPE for your chemical before committing this body to anything aggressive. The fitting and gasket materials below are matched to the OEM chemical-resistance chart, which is concentration- and temperature-specific - always verify your exact concentration and operating temperature against that chart. Three gasket families appear and they are not interchangeable: Viton for the oxidizers and strong acids (sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, hydrofluoric, hydrofluosilicic, hydrogen peroxide, sodium hypochlorite), Aflas for peracetic acid only, and EPDM for the salts, bases, and glycols. The mistake to avoid
The costliest error on a cone-bottom chemical tank is matching the chemical to the resin but not to the fittings and gaskets. The 1.9 SG HDLPE shell may be fine while the wrong gasket fails first - run Viton on sulfuric, hydrochloric, phosphoric, and hypochlorite duty, Aflas on peracetic acid, and EPDM on the salts and glycols, exactly as the chart specifies. Watch the four 316SS duties too: pricing PVC fittings for DEF, peracetic acid, propylene glycol, or zinc orthophosphate will spec the job wrong on cost and lead time. Second, do not assume the SG rating is open-ended: 1.9 is the ceiling, so verify your chemical's specific gravity at temperature stays at or below it. Third, the cone is not self-supporting - it must sit in a properly rated stand sized to the loaded weight.
