Norwesco 4035 Gallon Horizontal Elliptical Leg Tank in Black

Flat ground under all sixteen feet, and a door wider than 92 inches

Two site measurements settle this purchase and neither is a gallon figure. The first is the bearing surface: 192 inches of elliptical body on legs wants a flat, continuous plane under the full length, and the usual mistake is a pad or a gravel bed built to the footprint of the legs rather than to the footprint of the tank. Build to the tank. The second is the opening the tank has to pass on its way in, 92 inches wide and 75 inches tall, upright, on a machine. Walk that route with a tape before the order goes in. In return the elliptical shape gives the lowest profile of any 4035 gallon leg tank, which is why it goes under low roofs and onto flat trailers. This is the standard rated version: buy it for water and liquids near the weight of water. What goes in it

Water, liquid fertilizer and the farm and treatment chemicals that polyethylene handles. Check the liquid in our chemical compatibility guide before the first fill; urea solution, DEF, calcium chloride, sodium hypochlorite and sulfuric acid are the entries leg tank buyers ask about most. On a 1.5 rated tank the weight of the liquid matters as much as its chemistry. Keep the contents under 120 F. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, factory installed low in the end wall, with a 2 inch reducer and a siphon tube that draws from the low point of the tank. Run a 3 inch or a 2 inch valve from day one. Support the valve and the first length of hose so the fitting carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Manway. A 16 inch threaded vented manway on top: wide enough to fill from a hose or a pump, drop a float in, and get a brush inside. On a tank this long, plan a platform to reach it.
