A water-rated wall is for water and nothing heavier; the full-density wall is for concentrated acid; a 1.5 wall is the middle, sized for brine, fertilizer solution and coagulant as delivered and every water application, with margin, and 2,400 pounds of resin is what that takes on the tallest shell on this base. The N45 is the certified 1.9 wall in this same shell, 700 pounds heavier, for ferric at strength and the heavy brines; the N40 is cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers, the N46 another linear grade at this weight, and the N48 the heavy wall. Where the pipe goes

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 194 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
• Outlet: specify the bulkhead fitting for the liquid when ordering; a flexible connector at the bulkhead, an expansion joint in the run, and a valve on its own support off the slab.

On a tank this tall nobody reads a level by eye; fit a sender read at ground level, and a low-level float switch keeps a pump from running dry. Set the pump lower than the outlet so gravity primes it, keep the manway shut against vapor loss, and shade the tank if the liquid is light-sensitive. In a cold climate the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are insulated or drained; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

Bringing in a load

A tanker unloads faster than the manway can breathe, so the vent is sized for the pump or the fill takes a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent. The fill pipe runs to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam; on a shell this tall that is a long drop. The first tanker into a new tank is a supervised job, slab edge and outlet fitting checked as it fills, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.
