The Snyder Industries 1000 Gallon Plastic Vertical Liquid Storage Tank is a 1.9 specific-gravity workhorse for high-volume water service - rain catchment, fire-water reservoirs, ag and process water, and bulk water storage. Built in white high density linear polyethylene, it stands 89 inches tall on a 60-inch base, holding a full 1,000 gallons without sprawling across the pad. The 1.9 SG rating is the number that matters here: the wall is engineered to carry contents far heavier than water, so for plain water this tank never works near its structural limit.

Will it work for your site?

Plan your slab and footings for the loaded weight, not the empty shell. Filled with water, this 1000 gallon vertical storage tank carries roughly 8,340 lbs of contents, and its wall is rated to hold up to 15,846 lbs of contents at the full 1.9 specific gravity - a real structural margin of about 7,500 lbs over plain water. The footprint is a 60-inch circular diameter (the 60 x 60 figure is the bounding square), so size your pad to the 60-inch circle, not a literal 60 x 60 slab. A flat, fully supporting base - poured concrete or compacted aggregate - is required, with the tank evenly supported across the entire footprint; a vertical tank this tall does not tolerate a partial or uneven base. At 89 inches of height, confirm your fill point, overhead clearance, and access before delivery. To match gallons to your actual draw and refill cycle, run the numbers through the Tank Sizing Calculator and the Tank Sizing Guide.

Specs that drive the decision

Capacity is 1,000 gallons; material is white high density linear polyethylene; dimensions are 89 in height by 60 in diameter; specific-gravity rating is 1.9. That 1.9 rating means the tank is over-specified for plain water - if you later need to store a heavier liquid up to 1.9 SG, this same vessel handles it without a re-buy, so it future-proofs a water install. Rated for water and water-based liquids up to 1.9 SG; for any chemical service, verify gasket and seal material and chemical compatibility separately, as no fitting, gasket, or chemical-resistance data is published in our spec records for this SKU. If you are designing a private fire-protection reservoir, the stored-water role, NFPA-22 sizing discipline, and cold-climate freeze protection are covered in our guide on fire-water reservoir tank design for rural and remote sites. For alternate 1000-gallon vertical footprints in this class, see the related buyer's guides on this page, and review the technical drawing on this page for the as-built dimensions before you commit fittings or plumbing.

The mistake to avoid

The most common error on a tank this size is treating the height and diameter as flexible. They are not - a 1000 gallon vertical at 89 inches tall on a 60-inch base is a fixed geometry, and your pad, fill line, and overflow all have to be set to it. The second mistake is under-building the foundation: at over 8,300 lbs full of water, and far more at higher specific gravity, the base has to support the entire footprint evenly, every time. The third is assuming the fitting layout. Outlet, bulkhead, and lid or manway configuration are not published in our spec data for this SKU, so confirm them against the technical drawing on this page - or call 866-418-1777 - before you trench or plumb.
