Ten and a half thousand gallons is two tanker loads, and the wide, low shape is the one for a site with floor and not height: a barn, a shed, a yard under a power line. The wall is sized to ASTM D1998, the standard rotationally molded polyethylene tanks are specified to, and the sheet rates it for liquids nearly twice as dense as water, so brine and coagulant are covered as well as water. The C34 is the same shell at this weight and the C37-BLACK the black one for sun; the C37, N40 and N29 carry 250 pounds more resin, the N40 in cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers. Bulkheads and lid

• Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, installed; thread in a valve, run a flexible connector and an expansion joint to hard pipe, and support the valve off the slab. Three inches feeds a fire pump or a transfer pump without starving it.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 169 inches up; filled by truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for a tanker's unload rate.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Polypropylene is the fitting for water, brine and most treatment chemicals; check the liquid at its concentration against the fitting as well as the wall before the first fill. The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number, and a low-level switch protects the pump. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and keep the tank out of direct sun where the liquid is light-sensitive. If winters freeze, wrap or drain the outlet valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.

The tanker unload

A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. Run the fill pipe to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. Nobody walks away during the first fill: the slab edge and the outlet fitting are checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date.

Day-to-day duty

A crane or a forklift with long forks sets 2,250 pounds on the slab, and the slab is checked flat before the tank lands. Fill it to the manway once, hold it, and check the fitting for a weep before the pump goes on.
