Ports and manway

• Inlet: 1-1/2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting.
• Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene bolted fitting with stainless hardware, at the base; a flexible connector between the fitting and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the slab. For a fire reserve a larger outlet is specified at order.
• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 170 inches up, reached from a fixed platform.
• Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

A bolted outlet spreads the load of a heavy valve and pipe run over a ring rather than a thread, which is why it is the fitting on the big water tanks. A 2 inch outlet feeds a pressure pump without starving it. Tee a sight tube off the outlet to read the level through the green wall, or fit a sender read at ground level. Where it freezes, insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first length of pipe; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
