The Snyder 5370000C26 is a white high density linear polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 142 inches across and 234 inches tall, holding 15,000 gallons at 4,400 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 237,690 pounds of contents against 125,100 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines at three tanker loads. The full-density wall at three tanker loads
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and a tank of three tanker loads lets a plant take a full delivery with two loads still in the bottom. Full, it puts 237,690 pounds on a 142 inch circle at the rating: an engineered, full-contact slab under all of the floor, per the concrete pad sizing guide, screeded flat, inside a berm sized to the tank, with the empty tank strapped against wind and the manway reached from a fixed platform on its own footings. The N43, C37 and N49 are the 1.5 walls in this shell at the same weight, the N43 and N49 certified and the N49 black for water in the sun. The 3030100C26 holds the same 15,000 gallons on a 165 inch base 50 inches shorter. Openings as shipped
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 234 inches up; a dip tube for the fill, an outdoor vent on acid and caustic, and vent capacity to match the tanker.
- Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the chemical at order time; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Choose the level sender for the chemical and read it at ground level so nobody climbs for a number; keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive. Put a regulated chemical in a single wall tank and the berm around it has to hold all of it. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe.
Unloading without a spill
The truck's pump outruns the manway vent, so size the vent for the unload rate or give the fill its own top bulkhead and vent line. The fill pipe reaches the floor, so the liquid enters below the surface instead of free-falling and foaming. Diluting a dense chemical makes heat, so a batch is built water first and chemical second, never the reverse. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength; with this much in the tank, the log is the stock count.
