The Snyder Industries 15000 Gallon XLPE Black Vertical Storage Tank is a heavy-duty vertical vessel molded from crosslinked linear polyethylene (XLPE) and carries a 1.5 specific-gravity rating, so it handles high-density water and slurry service up to 1.5 SG without pushing past its design limit. It stands 234 inches tall - just over 19 feet - on a 143 x 143 inch footprint and holds a nominal 15,000 gallons. That combination of crosslinked resin and elevated SG headroom is what sets this Snyder black vertical storage tank apart from a standard water-only vessel.

Will it work for your site?

Plan the slab around dead weight, not just capacity. Filled with plain water this tank carries roughly 125,100 lb, and at its maximum rated 1.5-SG contents it reaches about 187,650 lb. That load has to land on an engineered pad sized for the 143 x 143 inch footprint. Before you pour, walk through our concrete pad sizing framework, and use the Tank Sizing Calculator and Tank Sizing Guide to confirm 15,000 gallons matches your demand curve. This footprint and capacity make it a common choice for rural fire-water reservoirs and industrial water-reuse trains - see our guides on fire-water reservoir design and industrial water reuse topology to plan the surrounding system.

Fittings and access

The tank is configured with a flange, a 12" x 26" fitting, an 18" PE threaded/vented fitting, and a flat fitting, plus a separate manway with a 15" access opening for interior inspection and cleaning. Note the manway and the 18" vented fitting are distinct top penetrations - plan the vent line and the access hatch independently. On a tank standing about 234 inches tall, confirm your ladder reach, overflow-line elevation, and fill-line routing against the full height before you order. Exact fitting locations and elevations are shown on the technical drawing on this page; verify each size and position against your plumbing plan, confirm the flange bolt circle, and supply your own compatible gasket for the flange and manway cover - the bolted joints are the real leak path on a tank this size.

The mistakes to avoid

Do not undersize the foundation for the loaded weight. Buyers size the pad for the tank's empty footprint and forget that at full 1.5-SG service the contents alone approach 187,650 lb - confirm your soil bearing and slab design against that number, not the gallon figure. Second, do not plan on using every last gallon: leave freeboard below the nominal 15,000-gallon mark for thermal expansion. Our guide on freeboard sizing per ASTM D1998 walks through the usable-volume math.
