What the wide opening buys

A wide manway takes a head and a shoulder, an arm to the elbow, a scrub brush, a wash lance and a light, which means this tote can be inspected and cleaned from above rather than rinsed and hoped over. On a product that dries, films, settles or has to be changed between batches, that is the difference between a vessel you turn around in an afternoon and one you write off at the first product change: a coating or adhesive that skins, a polymer or flocculant that has to be made up and kept moving, a pigment that settles into the corners, a cleaning chemistry that leaves a film. The weight is the honest cost. At 331 lb empty this is the heaviest of Snyder's 220 gallon totes and a machine job at both ends of every move, and at 54 inches it will not pass under a mezzanine or a rack beam that the shorter 220s clear. The top opening at that height needs a step or a platform designed in, not improvised on a pallet. Set it on a flat, continuous, level surface carrying the whole 46 inch square, never on two pallets or blocks, and check the loaded case against the floor or the rack beam: 1,835 lb of water, 3,486 lb at the rating.

What goes in it

Water, most fertilizers and the common process chemistries polyethylene handles, up to 1.9 times the weight of water and up to 120 F. Openings and fittings

1. Outlet. A 2 inch ball valve, factory fitted. Support the first length of hose so the valve carries liquid, not hardware.
2. Inlet. A 2 inch bung for a closed fill.
3. Manway. A threaded vented manway on top. Two different sizes are on file for this opening, so confirm the size you need with us against Snyder's drawing before you order a mixer, a probe or a lid gasket for it.
