2,500 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, ASTM certified
The Snyder 5090000N45 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 90 inches across and 107 inches tall, holding 2,500 gallons at 560 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 39,615 pounds of contents against 20,850 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, and it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top, a 3 year warranty, and it ships as oversize freight.

The full-density wall at half a tanker
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 560 pounds of resin is what that takes at 2,500 gallons, 110 pounds more than the certified 1.5 wall in this same shell. The certification is against ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why a tall wall is inspected in the headspace, and the freeboard sizing guide works out the usable volume once thermal expansion, which is large for a dense chemical, is accounted for. Full, it puts 39,615 pounds on a 90 inch circle at the rating, which a slab in full contact carries, and the empty tank is strapped against wind. The 2,500 gallon vertical tank buyers guide compares every maker's version of this volume; the tank sizing calculator sizes the tank to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Grades on the 90 x 107 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5090000N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 560 lb |
| 5090000N43 (1.5 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 450 lb |
| 5090000N49 (black, 1.9 SG) | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 560 lb |
| 5090000C26 | 2,500 | 90 x 107 in | 450 lb |
| 5090300N39 (low profile, 1.35 SG, ASTM certified) | 2,500 | 96 x 98 in | 400 lb |
| 5050000C26 | 2,000 | 90 x 88 in | 340 lb |
| 8390000C26 (low profile) | 2,650 | 102 x 97 in | 510 lb |
The N43 is the certified 1.5 wall for coagulants and brines that never approach this density, the N49 this same 1.9 wall in black for the sun, and the C26 the general grade. The 5090300N39 is the certified 1.35 wall on a 96 inch base 9 inches shorter. The 5050000C26 is the 2,000 gallon step down on this base, and the 8390000C26 lays 2,650 gallons down to 97 inches on a 102 inch base.

Outlet and manway
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 107 inches up; vent outside on acid and caustic service, fill through a dip tube, and size the vent for a delivery truck's unload rate.
- Outlet: order the bulkhead fitting in the material the chemical calls for; flex between the bulkhead and hard pipe, and a valve braced off the pad so the fitting carries no pipe weight.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
Choose the level sender for the chemical; a float switch for low level protects the pump. Mount the dosing pump below the outlet so it primes by gravity, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive. A single wall tank of regulated chemical stands inside a berm sized to it. In a cold climate the outlet valve and the first run of pipe are insulated or drained.
Receiving a delivery
The truck's pump outruns a stock manway vent; size the vent for the unload rate or fill through a dedicated top bulkhead with a separate vent. The fill pipe reaches the floor, so caustic or coagulant enters below the surface instead of free-falling and foaming. If the tank is ever used to dilute a batch, water goes in first and the chemical second; the other order boils. The first fill of a new tank is watched end to end, outlet fitting checked as the level comes up, and the log takes the date and strength of every load that follows.
Who buys this tank
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a small plant with a berm, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine for a softener bank, and any 2,500 gallon vessel of dense chemical where the certification has to be on file, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes when it holds water. One chemical per tank, labeled.
Delivery day
At 90 inches across and 107 inches long on the deck the 5090000N45 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600-01) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices the lane to your ZIP; the figure listed here is before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 560 pounds on the pad. Strap it, water-fill it once to the manway, hold it, then drain and dry before the chemical connection is made, and keep the certification paperwork with the project file. Keep the delivery paperwork with the tank; the serial number on the shell is what a warranty claim starts from.
