Outlet and manway
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 107 inches up; filled by hose, tote pump or truck through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
- Outlet: name the liquid when ordering so the bulkhead fitting matches it; hard pipe joined to the bulkhead through a flexible connector, valve on a bracket of its own.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
The white wall shows the level in daylight; a low-level switch protects the pump. The pump sits below the outlet so it primes by gravity; the manway stays closed; a light-sensitive liquid stays out of the sun. If winters freeze, wrap or drain the outlet valve and the first pipe run; the body takes ice from the top down without harm.
Unloading without a spill
A delivery truck's pump can push air out faster than a stock vent can pass it, so the vent is sized for the unload rate or the fill goes through a dedicated top bulkhead with its own vent line. Run the fill pipe to the floor so the liquid does not free-fall and foam. Nobody walks away during the first fill: the slab edge and the outlet fitting are checked as the level climbs, and every delivery after that goes in the log with a date and a strength.
Checking on it
Once a season, with the tank as low as the schedule allows, open the manway in daylight and look at the headspace wall and the underside of the top for chalking, crazing or a change in color; that is where a polyethylene wall ages first, and the wetted wall below tells you nothing. Check the outlet fitting for a weep, the strap for tension, and the pad edge for a crack or a gap, and write the date and what was seen on the log.
