The 2 inch outlet on a low tank
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting, at the base; tell us the liquid when ordering and the fitting is matched to it, with a flanged transition, a flexible connector to hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad in the material the chemical calls for.
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 97 inches up, reached from a step; fill by tote pump or truck through a dip tube, vent outside on acid and caustic service, and size the vent for the delivery pump.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
Eight feet of liquid above the outlet is a flooded suction to the last few inches; a pump mounted below the outlet primes by gravity, and a float at low level protects it from running dry. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss, label the tank so the fire inspector and the workplace inspector read the same thing, and inspect the headspace wall from the manway with a light. Cold climates: heat-trace or insulate the outlet valve and the first pipe run, and stop worrying about the body, which ices from the top down without harm.
