3,000 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, under eight feet
The Snyder 32259 is a white high density linear polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 102 inches across and 97 inches tall, holding 3,000 gallons at 750 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 47,538 pounds of contents against 25,020 for water, the chemical-grade wall on a low, wide shape that cannot tip, and the 2 inch outlet carries an internal siphon tube so the tank drains from the floor without a fitting at the very bottom. A 20 inch manway, and it ships as oversize freight.

The heavy wall, laid low
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, the class ferric chloride at strength and the heavy brines fall in, and 750 pounds of resin is what that takes at 3,000 gallons on this shape. The wall is sized under ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains that logic and why the headspace, not the liquid line, is where a wall ages. The eight and a half foot base at 97 inches keeps the manway within reach of a short step and puts the load on the pad without the lever arm a tall tank has in wind. A siphon tube outlet draws from the floor through a fitting set higher on the wall, which keeps the bulkhead out of the sediment; prime it once and it stays primed. Full, it puts 47,538 pounds on a 102 inch circle at the rating, which a slab in full contact carries. The tank sizing calculator sizes the tank to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.
Snyder's 2,650 to 3,500 gallon verticals
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 32259 (this tank, 1.9 SG, siphon outlet) | 3,000 | 102 x 97 in | 750 lb |
| 32255 (1.5 SG, siphon outlet) | 3,000 | 102 x 97 in | 750 lb |
| 8160000C26 (tall, 1.9 SG) | 3,000 | 90 x 127 in | 800 lb |
| 5130000C34 (tall) | 3,000 | 90 x 127 in | 575 lb |
| 8390000C26 | 2,650 | 102 x 97 in | 510 lb |
| 32292 (tall, 1.9 SG, siphon outlet) | 3,500 | 96 x 124 in | 550 lb |
The 32255 is the 1.5 wall in this same shell at the same weight, for brine, fertilizer and coagulant as delivered. The 8160000C26 and 5130000C34 stand 3,000 gallons on a 90 inch base at 127 inches, the first with the 1.9 wall and a 3 inch outlet, for a site with height and less floor. The 8390000C26 holds 2,650 gallons in this same low shape in the general grade, and the 32292 is the 3,500 gallon step up on a 96 inch base at 124 inches with this wall and this outlet.

Openings as shipped
- Outlet: 2 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with an internal siphon tube; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad.
- Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway; filled through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
A siphon outlet needs the pump or the gravity line below the tank floor to stay primed, and a foot of drop is enough; if the line ever runs dry, refill the tank above the fitting and open the valve to re-prime. The white wall shows the level in daylight; fit a low-level float switch so a pump never runs dry. On a chemical, choose the sender for the liquid, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive.
In service
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm, heavy brine for a softener bank, fertilizer concentrate on a farm, and water where the buyer wants the heaviest wall on a low tank for a long life outdoors, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. One liquid per tank, labeled.
Freight and unloading
At 102 inches across the 32259 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices the move to your ZIP, and the price on this page is before freight. A forklift with long forks sets 750 pounds on the pad. Fill it to the manway once, prime the siphon, and check the outlet fitting before it goes to work. The first fill is the only cheap time to find a problem, so do it in daylight with someone watching the base.
