Twenty pounds of empty weight sounds like nothing until you count the lifts. The duty that buys this tote is one where the container is handled rather than parked: a plant with one delivery bay and three use points, a blending operation that fills on one line and ships from another, a rental or returnable fleet where the same tote is moved empty as often as full, a site where totes go on and off a truck bed with a machine that is right at the edge of its rating. Against the other polyethylene 330s on its own sheet this one is the lightest by between eighteen and eighty-six pounds, and it is also the narrowest square at 45 inches on both sides, which is what gets it through a rack bay or a doorway that the 46 and 47 inch plans crowd. The second reason to buy it is the opening. Where most totes in this band give you six inches on top, this sheet gives a 22 inch lid size and an 18 inch threaded vented manway, and either of those figures is a working opening rather than a hose port. Two inches out at the bottom, a wide opening at the top

• The drain: a 2 inch ball valve at the base of a 63 inch body, which is the tallest polyethylene tote in this batch bar one and therefore the one with the most head behind the valve at the start of a draw-down. Full bore into a short falling line, and wash the last of the tank out through the valve rather than lifting it out of the top.
• Pump suction: a pump set below the valve holds prime through the draw-down and keeps holding it as the level drops. On a product with solids, fit a strainer you can actually clean, and put it where a person can reach it without moving the tote.
• Isolation: a full-flow shutoff against the valve, a flexible connector after it, rigid pipe last. Nothing downstream is carried on the tank.
• The inlet: a 2 inch bung for closed filling. Use it to fill and keep the large opening on top for access, because a seal that is disturbed twice a week outlasts one disturbed twice a day.
• Access: the sheet gives a 22 inch lid size and an 18 inch threaded vented manway; both figures are printed as published. Either of them takes a light, a head, an arm and a brush, and makes a mixer shaft, a level probe or a dip tube practical to fit. Keep the vent path clear whenever a pump is drawing.
• Limits: 120 F / 48 C is the service limit and 1.9 is the specific gravity rating. There is no warranty term on this sheet and nothing beyond that is claimed.

Product that is mixed on site rather than delivered ready, product that settles into the bottom corners, product that skins or crusts at the surface, product that has to be sampled to a standard somebody will audit, and any operation that runs more than one chemistry through the same container: all of those want a tank you can get a light and an arm into.
