4,100 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity, with a 3 inch siphon outlet

The Snyder 32323 is a white high density linear polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 102 inches across and 130 inches tall, holding 4,100 gallons at 996 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 64,969 pounds of contents against 34,194 for water, the chemical-grade wall with the most resin of any 4,100 on this base, and the 3 inch outlet carries a 2 inch reducer and an internal siphon tube, so it drains from the floor and feeds either a 3 inch fire line or a 2 inch pump. A 20 inch manway, and it ships as oversize freight.

Is this the right 4100 gallon tank? Call 866-418-1777 with the liquid, the site and the ceiling height, or get freight to your ZIP and add it to your cart above.

The heavy wall with the big outlet

A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, the class ferric chloride at strength and the heavy brines fall in, and 996 pounds of resin is what that takes at 4,100 gallons, 146 pounds more than the general-grade tanks in this shell. The wall is sized under ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains that logic and why a tall wall is inspected in the headspace. A siphon tube outlet draws from the floor through a fitting set higher on the wall, which keeps the bulkhead out of the sediment; prime it once and it stays primed. Full, it puts 64,969 pounds on a 102 inch circle at the rating, which a slab in full contact carries, and the empty tank is strapped against wind. The tank sizing calculator sizes the tank to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve.

The 7360000 tanks are the general-grade 4,100s in this shell, in white and black, with the N46 in another linear grade. The 7421100 tanks lay 4,000 and 4,300 gallons down to 104 inches on a 120 inch base for a lower roof, the N40 in cross-linked resin for oxidizers.

Bulkheads and lid

  • Outlet: 3 inch polypropylene female NPT bulkhead fitting with a 2 inch reducer and an internal siphon tube; a flexible connector between the bulkhead and hard pipe, and the valve supported off the pad.
  • Access: 20 inch threaded, vented manway, 130 inches up; filled through a dip tube, vented outside on anything that fumes.
  • Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.

Leave the reducer in for a 2 inch pump suction; take it out for a 3 inch fire line or a fast gravity drain. A siphon outlet needs the pump or the gravity line below the tank floor to stay primed, and a foot of drop is enough; if the line ever runs dry, refill the tank above the fitting and open the valve to re-prime. Fit a sender read at ground level so nobody climbs for a number. On a chemical, choose the sender for the liquid, keep the manway closed against vapor loss, and shade the tank where the chemical is light-sensitive.

Day-to-day duty

Ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm, heavy brine for a softener bank, fertilizer concentrate on a farm, and a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes, where the 3 inch outlet and the heavy wall both count. One liquid per tank, labeled.

From the plant to your site

At 102 inches across and 130 inches long on the deck the 32323 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator quotes the haul to your ZIP; what is listed is the price before freight. A forklift with long forks or a small crane sets 996 pounds on the pad. Strap it, fill it to the manway once, prime the siphon, and check the outlet fitting before it goes to work. Write the fill date on the manway with a paint marker; it answers the first question anyone asks about a tank.
