6,000 gallons in opaque white on a 102 inch base, ASTM certified
The Snyder 7430000N52 is an opaque white high density linear polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 102 inches across and 188 inches tall, holding 6,000 gallons at 1,800 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 95,076 pounds of contents against 50,040 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, and the opaque resin keeps light off the contents the way a black tank does while staying white enough to show a shadow line of the level in daylight. An 18 inch threaded, vented manway on top, and it ships as oversize freight.

A tanker and a reserve, out of the light, on the small pad
Light drives the breakdown of hypochlorite, of some coagulants and of most of the organic chemicals a plant stores; a standard white wall lets some of it through, a black wall lets none through and hides the level, and the opaque white is the compromise Snyder molds for chemical service, dark inside and readable outside. On top of that the 1.9 wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water and certified against ASTM D1998; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why a wall this tall is inspected from the top, in the headspace, and the freeboard sizing guide works out the usable volume once thermal expansion, which is large for a dense chemical, is accounted for. Full, it puts 95,076 pounds on a 102 inch circle at the rating: an engineered slab in full contact under the whole floor, inside a berm sized to the tank, with the empty tank strapped against wind at two heights and the manway reached from a fixed platform with a rail. The tank sizing calculator sizes the volume to feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve; hypochlorite loses strength in storage, so the reserve is sized to turnover as much as to supply.
The 102 x 188 inch tanks, and the sizes beside them
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7430000N52 (this tank, opaque, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,800 lb |
| 7430000C37 (3 inch fitting) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| 7430000C26 (3 inch fitting) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,450 lb |
| 7430000C137 | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,650 lb |
| WV90 (water) | 6,000 | 102 x 188 in | 1,595 lb |
| 7000000C137 (ten foot base) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,155 lb |
| 1002100C126 | 5,000 | 102 x 154 in | 1,050 lb |
| 7140000C137 (ten foot base) | 6,900 | 120 x 153.5 in | 1,300 lb |
The C37, C26 and C137 are the general grades in this shell for liquids that do not care about light, the first two with a 3 inch fitting already in, and the WV90 the water tank. The 7000000C137 holds the same 6,000 gallons on a 120 inch base at 132 inches, 56 inches lower, for a site with floor and no height; the 1002100C126 is the 5,000 on this base, and the 7140000C137 holds 6,900 on the ten foot base.

What is fitted
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 188 inches up; vent outside on acid, caustic and hypochlorite service, fill through a dip tube, with the vent sized for the rate a tanker unloads at.
- Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the chemical at order time; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
A sender matched to the chemical, read at ground level, means nobody goes up for a reading; an opaque wall shows a shadow line in daylight, not a number. Keep the manway closed against vapor loss. Put a regulated chemical in a single wall tank and the berm around it has to hold all of it. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe.
When the truck arrives
The truck's pump outruns the manway vent, so size the vent for the unload rate or give the fill its own top bulkhead and vent line. The fill pipe runs to the floor so caustic or coagulant does not free-fall and foam; on a shell this tall that is a long drop. Diluting a dense chemical makes heat, so a batch is built water first and chemical second, never the reverse. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and from then on each load is logged by date and strength; for hypochlorite the log is also the turnover schedule.
Applications
Sodium hypochlorite and light-sensitive coagulants at a water or wastewater plant that keeps certifications on file, ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm and no floor space, dense process chemicals delivered by tanker where the plant wants the level readable and the chemical dark, and, with water in it, a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. A single chemical per tank, labeled once for both inspectors.
On the truck
At 102 inches across and 188 inches long on the deck the 7430000N52 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator prices the move to your ZIP, and the price on this page is before freight. A crane sets 1,800 pounds upright on the slab; a forklift can take it off the deck, not raise it. One water fill to the manway, a hold, a drain and a dry-out come before the chemical is piped in, and the certification paperwork stays with the project. Put the tank's part number on the maintenance log the day it lands; five years on, nobody remembers which shell it is.
