6,000 gallons at 1.9 specific gravity on a ten foot base, ASTM certified
The Snyder 7140300N45 is a white polyethylene vertical liquid storage tank, 120 inches across and 145 inches tall, holding 6,000 gallons at 1,500 pounds. Its wall is rated for a specific gravity of 1.9, or 95,076 pounds of contents against 50,040 for water, the chemical-grade wall for ferric chloride at strength, concentrated acids and the heavy brines, it is sold with ASTM certification for jobs that need the paper, and the ten foot base takes a tanker load of dense chemical with a reserve under a twelve and a half foot roof. The top carries an 18 inch threaded, vented manway, the paperwork carries a 3 year warranty, and the truck carries it oversize.

The full-density wall at a tanker and a reserve
A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and the certification against ASTM D1998 is what says the wall was sized that way; the HDPE tank wall thickness guide explains the sizing logic and why the headspace is where a wall ages. Full, it puts 95,076 pounds on a 120 inch circle at the rating: an engineered slab in full contact under the whole floor, inside a berm sized to the tank, wind straps on the tank while it is empty, and the manway reached from a short platform. The 6,000 gallon vertical tank buyers guide walks through the competing shapes at this volume; the tank sizing calculator works the volume out from feed rate and delivery interval, and the tank sizing guide covers the reserve, which for a dense chemical includes freeboard for thermal expansion.
Grades on the 120 x 145 inch tank, and the sizes beside it
| Part | Gallons | Diameter x height | Empty weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7140300N45 (this tank, 1.9 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 120 x 145 in | 1,500 lb |
| 7140300N43 (1.5 SG, ASTM certified) | 6,000 | 120 x 145 in | 1,500 lb |
| 7140300N40 (XLPE) | 6,000 | 120 x 145 in | 1,500 lb |
| 7000000C37-BLACK (black) | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 7000000C34 | 6,000 | 120 x 132 in | 1,050 lb |
| 8220000C34 | 6,200 | 120 x 140 in | 1,350 lb |
| 5250000N40 (low profile, XLPE) | 5,600 | 142 x 102 in | 1,150 lb |
The N43 is the certified 1.5 wall at this tank's weight for coagulants and brines that never approach this density, and the N40 is cross-linked polyethylene for oxidizers. The 7000000C34 and C37-BLACK hold the same 6,000 gallons on this base in a shorter, lighter general-grade shell, 13 inches lower, and the 8220000C34 holds 6,200; the 5250000N40 lays 5,600 gallons down on a 142 inch base at 102 inches for a barn roof.

What is fitted
- Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 145 inches up; on acid or caustic the vent goes outdoors, the fill goes down a dip tube, and the vent is sized to the tanker pump.
- Outlet: name the chemical when ordering so the bulkhead fitting matches it; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.
- Service limit: 120 F / 48 C.
- Listing: ASTM certification.
A sender matched to the chemical, read at ground level, means nobody goes up for a reading; a closed manway keeps the vapor in, and a light-sensitive chemical gets shade. Regulated chemical in a single wall tank means a berm sized to the tank around it. Insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe wherever the ground freezes.
When the truck arrives
A tanker's pump moves liquid faster than a manway vent can pass air, so either the vent is sized to the unload rate or the fill comes in through its own top bulkhead with a separate vent line. A fill pipe to the floor keeps caustic or coagulant from free-falling and foaming. A dense liquid heats when water is added to it, so a batch tank is filled with water before the chemical, never after. The first delivery into a new tank is watched from start to finish, with the slab edge and the outlet fitting checked as the level climbs, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.
Applications
Ferric and other dense coagulants at a plant with a berm, acid feed for pH control, heavy brine at plant scale, dense process chemicals delivered by tanker with a reserve, and water where the buyer wants the heaviest certified wall for a long life outdoors, including a fire reserve of the kind the fire-water reservoir design guide describes. A single chemical per tank, labeled once for both inspectors.
On the truck
At 120 inches across and 145 inches long on the deck the 7140300N45 is oversize freight (NMFC 156600) on a flatbed at a lane rate; the freight cost estimator quotes the haul to your ZIP; what is listed is the price before freight. A crane or a forklift with long forks sets 1,500 pounds on the slab. One water fill to the manway, a hold, a drain and a dry-out come before the chemical is piped in, and the certification paperwork stays with the project. Mark the vent and the outlet on the outside of the shell so nobody caps the wrong one in the dark.
