A 1.9 specific gravity wall is sized for a liquid nearly twice as dense as water, and 1,900 pounds of resin is what that takes on the widest shell in the line, 500 pounds more than the certified 1.5 wall in the same mold. The shape is the low one: 110,922 pounds on a 142 inch circle sits close to the ground and needs the least strapping in the line, but the widest floor spans any hollow in a gravel base and cracks there when full, so the pad is an engineered slab in full contact under the whole circle, per the concrete pad sizing guide, inside a berm sized to the tank. The N43 is the certified 1.5 wall, 500 pounds lighter, for coagulants and brines that never approach this density; the N42 is the heavy cross-linked tank at this tank's weight for the densest oxidizers, and the N40 and N46 the lighter grades. The 7440000N40 stands 7,500 gallons of cross-linked resin on a 102 inch base at 234 inches for a site with no floor and plenty of height, and the 7140000C26 holds 6,900 gallons on a 120 inch base at 153 inches.

Openings as shipped

• Access: 18 inch threaded, vented manway, 122 inches up; on acid or caustic the vent goes outdoors, the fill goes down a dip tube, and the vent is sized to the tanker pump.
• Outlet: the bulkhead fitting is chosen for the chemical at order time; a flanged transition, an expansion joint, and a valve supported off the slab.

Choose the level sender for the chemical and read it at ground level; keep the manway shut against vapor loss and shade a light-sensitive chemical. A single wall tank of regulated chemical stands inside a berm sized to it, and a berm around a twelve foot tank takes floor, so plan it with the pad. In a freezing climate insulate or drain the outlet valve and the first run of pipe.

Unloading without a spill

The truck's pump outruns the manway vent, so size the vent for the unload rate or give the fill its own top bulkhead and vent line. A fill pipe to the floor keeps caustic or coagulant from free-falling and foaming. A dense liquid heats when water is added to it, so a batch tank is filled with water before the chemical, never after. The first tanker into a new tank is a supervised job, slab edge and outlet fitting checked as it fills, and each delivery after it is logged with its date and strength.

A crane or a forklift with long forks sets 1,900 pounds on the slab, and the slab is checked flat before the tank lands. Water-fill it once to the manway, hold it, then drain and dry before the chemical connection is made, and keep the certification paperwork with the project file. The first fill is the only cheap time to find a problem, so do it in daylight with someone watching the base.
